Anyone know the latest with Cuellar? Rangers not qualifying for champs league surely means he won't be going there.

Exactly. Randy found some more of his own money in order to ensure villa stayed in the top division.

But got it back when Ashley Young was sold.  Don't get me wrong - RL is the saviour & I love him like the wife, etc, etc, but he's got to balance his personal books too.

I'm not sure if this is old news or not and it's not really Villa related anymore so apologies in advance but I've had a text from a nose aquaintance saying that Carew is on the verge of signing for small heath. John, what the f*ck are you thinking??

Another nice payday in semi-retirement without having to move house is what he's thinking.

If Cuellar isn't going to Rangers then fair enough but he should be back training with us and featuring in games like tonight, surely?

Even so, you'd have thought that Leicester or Forest would have been more suitable for all parties.

He's not much cop anymore, but he's still better than having to play with the likes of Fahey and Carr.

someone posted that mcleish said last night we need to strengthen - having assessed the squad im pleased he has reached that conclusion and lets hope randy will release some money to get a couple of quality players in -preferably parker being one.

I would like to see that in black and white. I saw him say that we need to strengthen our play in key moments of the game, but that is a long depart from the team. Team wise, I am starting to get worried.

We will have done brilliantly. The situation is quite farcical, as the wage bill has been vastly reduced, while we have now lost our 2 best creative players, and our only destructive midfield player. We have replaced one. Simple truth is that Randy has gone from being a good chairman and backing his manager, to appointing a very unpopular one and then hanging him out to dry. I feel sorry for him, as 2 players and I think we could be a surprisingly effective side. As it is, I think we are going to be very hard to watch at times, and wil nick enough points to come about 12th. Clearly that is the revised ambition. Bent and NZogbia will be gone next summer I am sure.

..........with FAR too much on Albrighton's shoulders I think.

farcical indeed, and I agree with your synopsis.

Agree with this summary. Albrighton looks a pale shadow of the exciting player we saw in the first half of last season. He seemed to hit a wall after that, and juding from pre-season, he hasn't got through it yet.

Just saw him say it on SSN.

Yeah just saw him say on SNN after the game last night that he'd like a few more in.
Promising noises really and I can't see Randy not considering it if AMc can justify it. He may have to put a player or two on the 'transfer list' ala Joey Barton and hope it drums up some interest. Although looking at the squad at the moment I only make it  14 players who are on serious money, 40k+ p/w, with 13 younger players making up the squad. I'd say the players wage bill must be down to around £50m now which is a massive drop from MON's days.

If we can get in a DCM, a two footed winger/creative midfielder and if Carlos goes a CB we'll be good to go in my book. They could all be cheaper foreign players or even loans, but we definitely need the bodies in.
