I don't think we will see any signings before Fulham now once N'zogbia signs but believe we will have a couple of more players.

What about Witsel as the midfield hard man, I heard that there was interest in him a month or so a go from other clubs but not sure if he moved. Surely he wouldn't cost that much more that West Ham want for Parker, his wages would be less and he would have the majic resale value that's so important to everyone.

Witsel signed for Benfica June/July. I keep mentioning Mahamadou Diarra on a free.  He has made a personal plee for a premiership team to take him on. Stoke and Fulham are interested ..........

I think we should really help our neighbours out , we dont want them to be extinct .  I would throw a 3 million pound bid for Dann to help them out , Jerome could keep Villa park nice and tidy with his pan and brush and any blocked toilets can be unblocked using  Zigic and lets hope Poundland come in as their new sponsors.

Perhaps we should hang onto the cheque until they go bust!

we have already helped them out - 3m-4m for the management team that presided over their relegation last season  :(

McLeish has all but confirmed this to Sky!

from the BBC sportday thingy:-

1449: FOOTBALL - Manager Alex McLeish says it is unlikely Aston Villa will add any new faces before the start of the season. "You can never say never but at the moment if we get N'Zogbia, which is looking good, then it's unlikely we will do anything unless there's more trading with the players we already have in the squad," he told the Press Association.

Could it be that our weakness in CM is a result of poor possession up front? Did we throw the baby out with the bathwater last season? Or am I wasting your time and space?

To be honest that's a shift from only one more player in.

I think that's fair comment to a degree, Petrov, Heskey, Beye, Cuellar, Guzan, etc will probably be replaced over the next 12 months as well as a few younger players who don't make the grade, perhaps Hogg, Herd and Lowry.  We just cant afford to pay wages for the replacements and the outgoing players for 12 months.  I do feel that with Downing and Young going we should be seeing 2 replacements coming in really, but otherwise I can't grumble too much with that.

Again, it's that 'start of the season' thing that leaves some ambiguity, as the window closes two weeks after this.

It may be false hope, but I can still see one more exciting signing coming in late in August.

the only player that i was sorry to lose was Ashley Young, the rest i was glad to see the back of,
if we bring in CN then even with all the departures i still think we have a better squad than last season if we are counting in Warnock and the all new Steven Ireland

Haven't Birmingham got 'a once in a generation' winger coming through their ranks?
No idea what his name is. Alex should use his inside knowledge to raid their youth set up.

Is that 'once in a generation' for them or the rest of the civilised world?  If comparisons are only to people like Ricky Otto I think we can afford to miss out on this one!

From BBC Sportsday

1425: FOOTBALL - Sky Sports News reports that Porto have rejected a staggering €80m (£70.6m) bid for Brazilian striking ace Hulk from an undisclosed club, according to his agent.
