642 pages so far. 2 best players sold. 10+ released. A least 2 spongers still on books eg Beye & Heskey. 1 mediocre keeper signed. Reverse gear. Relegation scrap ahoy.
And you still getting on a right downer ...

Who is going to take Beye on?

nearly 34 and on 42k per week

We are stuck with him and I fear Ivanhoe

Nobody, and if I were either of that pair, I too would sit tight for a year and carry on coining it in.

When Nzogbia signs that will be it apart from maybe some cheapo loan signings
Central midfield still looks lightweight...Barton on a season loan?

I really hope we can get another winger in, maybe a right winger. We don't want to burn Albrighton out.
Maybe we'll get someone in on loan.

Which I suppose means that McMinge needs to find a way of extracting some value out of them ... hmmm, there's a managerial challenge!

Listening to offers doesn't mean that he's got to sell all three before bringing in Hutton.

exactly  gordon but it was you who wrote this-

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keen to sign Spurs defender Alan Hutton, but must fund the move by selling defenders Habib Beye, Luke Young and Carlos Cuellar.
Full story: Daily Mirror

your interpretation above that he must sell those 3 to fund the move is clearly wrong , maybe one of those would be sold but not all 3.

I can see Cuellar going for £2m and Hutton coming in for around £4m, which would improve us at fullback, but weaken us at centreback.  If we can part fund this by shifting Beye then all the better.  Hutton was highly rated at Rangers under Mcleish (didn't Spurs sig him for something like £9m?), so this could turn out to be a great signing for us.

Things have gone very quiet around Scott Dann, not just from us but from everyone.  Surely Blues want to get the spondulees for him to pay court costs and the like, so they'll want to move him on before 31/8.  I wonder if their asking price is too high and Mcleish is playing a waiting game in expectation of the fee coming down and this will be a surprise move late in the window?

11/12 defensive squad:-  Young, Warnock, Hutton, Dunne, Dann, Collins, Clark, Lichaj, Baker and Lowry.

Perhaps if we loaned the likes of Beye out whilst paying a % of his wages, doesn't resolve the problem but reduces the wage bill of a player most wouldn't expect to contribute towards the coming season?

I missed that, but was it usual lazy column inch filler or something more substantial?  I've heard/read very little since that move to Stoke broke down - and wasn't that because the player himself didn't want it and was waiting for a better offer?

Birmingham defender Scott Dann, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool, is reportedly a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea

Reports last weekend suggested the Blues want £12million for the former England Under-21 international - a price which has stopped the Merseysiders lodging a bid - as they look to raise funds following their relegation from the Premier League last season.

But according to the Daily Mirror, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is leading the race to sign the 24-year-old, while new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is also considering making a move.

Re: Beye and Heskey, it's Beye who really is more of a problem in my book. At least Heskey is, by all accounts, a good professional and he actually can do a job for us. With Beye, I don't think that is the case, so he really is a drain in resources. A shame, because I thought he might have been good signing (although not on the deal he got!). As it stands, it's going to take something miraculous to see any sort of meaningful return from him.

Beye is going nowhere and he'll be a boil on our backside until his contract runs out.  I wouldn't mind if he was any good.
Between heskey and Harewood , I wasnt sure who  was the worse MON signing but Beye is probably the worse one , thinking about it ...

I can only see Cuellar being an option

Beye is 34 shit and on massive wages

Luke Young is 32 so hardly one for the future and turned Liverpool down last summer because he didn't want to take a pay cut.

I don't blame any player not wanting to leave and take a pay cut when they have a contract that pays them a ridiculous amount.

I blame the cock who signed them and the cock/s who agreed to fund it
