Re: NRC, He should just move abroad like his agent was broadcasting months back!
He probably would if he lowered his wage demands, and acually woke up and realised what sort of club he should be looking at, and not believing that he is an top player, which he isn't. Bolton, Rangers, Newcastle, some random turkish club or
WBA is about the level he can expect.

Isn't Mahamadou Diarra a free agent at the moment?
We should get him for a defensive midfielder option.
Could imagine his wages would be a bit high, coming from Real Madrid and being a bosman.

I agree.

You could call them logical/obvious signings, but both good players and in areas we needed to strengthen.

yeah true , both obvious but both very good players and I think Given will be a massive bonus for Stephen Ireland too..       Parker would be an excellent third ..

I can't see Parker happening, but Mulumbu would be a good alternative.

If we sign Mulumbu then we could hopefully push Petrov a bit furthur forward.

Petrov is not the player to "push up front" that would be Irelands job (all going well) like Malumbu to be more of a holding player he has the engine and can pass the ball. Would be a reasonable price as well .................

Would still like to see young Ciaran given a go in the specialist DM role. He's a big lad with a physical presence that would give us some much needed height in midfield and protection for the back 4. He's comfortable on the ball too, could see him being quite Viera-esque.

.............................Given.................................

Young...........Collins........Dunne.........Warnock

.....................Makoun....Clark.........................

Albrighton.............Ireland................N'Zogbia

.............................Bent.................................

Team to start against Fulham, although I expect Petrov to be in instead of Clark.

I've said it before, I wouldn't rule out Clark as a defensive midfielder for all the reasons suggested.
But I'm not sure I wouldn't rather get a defensive midfielder in (Diarra, Mariga, Fofana, Parker...etc) and leave Clark as cover there.
In fact, that's exactly what I'd like.

Mahamdou Diarra is available for nowt. No brainer.

If he's gonna play there and we're going to be anyway successful while he is, then we'll need better performances than we saw last season.  I'll give him the benefit of the doubt as we were makeshift all over the poark whe he played there, but I'm far from convinced.

Mind you, that may be due to my natural dislike for defenders playing in midfield.
