Joey Barton has cleaned up his act a lot in the last 18 months or so and been teetotal- still prone to being easily would up but at £4m would be a very decent player for someone.

I'm not sure I'd have wanted him with houllier here but I think a strong boss like mcleish could maybe handle him-doubt we would be in for him but not as bad a player as some portray.

Upson makes sense to me. He'll only play 10 games and it makes more sense than spending £8m on a Shawcros or S.Taylor who's just gonna hamper Clarke's development.

If Ciaran is rated that highly, the insurance policy of Upson makes sense.

Depends on how much he wants in wages............For £40,00 pw on a 2 year deal maybe any more I would say no thanks
