You cant blame Beye at 33 for sitting on his arse when he has a contract that pays him 42k per week for 3 years

Why should he leave and have a 20k cut in wages?

We as a club are at fault for the ridiculous contracts and are making ourselves look silly again by pretending we have some business acumen and trying to play hardball with Wigan

It would be nice to freshen things up and replace Guzan, Petrov, Beye, Warnock, Dunne, Cuellar, Collins, Ireland, Heskey, Young etc. with fancy new signings, but the reality is in the main we must make do for now.  In 12 months time it will be different as about half of these players will be out of contract and we will see bigger changes in the playing staff.  If Heskey and Cuellar go this summer we should see a bit more incoming activity I'm sure.

We also have a number of players in their early 20's, (that we think of as just kids but they are not) that we don't know enough about to make a judgement and we need to make up our minds in the next 12 months.  Hogg, Herd, Baker, Lichaj, Lowry, Clark, Bannan, Albrighton, Delph, Delfouneso etc.

I would be amazed if Ivanhoe or beye went anywhere

Didn't beye turn down ipswich on loan in Jan? He's quite content going into training everyday in his ferrari

Beye is a greedy twat who really needs to move on istead of being a reserve team player and/or a bench warmer!

Don't see a reason to blast him for that, no evidence of him not trying or bitching about things. Good luck to him, blame the board for his contract.

So youre happy for him to continue getting paid excessive amounts of money by sitting on the bench and playing reserve team football when we could be investing that money in someone else who could be playing instead of him?  Great Theory!  Might as well bring back Salifou and Osbourne!

whose to say he wont get in the first team and stay there ? houllier ignored many players , those players all deserve a chance to impress eck and if beye takes his chance good luck to him, why should he go to a lower league club on loan?

yes hes on crazy money but thats the board and mons fault , you can hardly expect beye to turn around and say no i dont want that just give me half of it!

If Beye has any self respect he would move on to somewhere he would get 1st team football. not be happy sitting there earning the amount of money.  Im sorry but I dont agree with this attitude of getting payed a vast amount of money not to do the job they chose to persue from a young age.  He is not a role model to up and coming players.  He is making himself look like a greedy tw4t.
Footballers do not know how lucky they are with the amount they earn each week.  he clearly has his own agenda which I dont agree with.  He had a choice to go out on loan in Jan but chose not to even though he knew GH was not going to play him.  He got banished to the reserves along with Warnock for their attitude in training so to say that he hasn't said anything wrong is wide of the mark.

maybe he wants to play.

If he wants to play, why didnt he go to another club and play there? Why doesnt he hand in a transfer request and go and apply his trade at another club ?

maybe he wants to play for us which is why he joined us in the first place

this preseason has got a feel of the first seeason under OLeary when he had to make do and use the squad and sign only 2 players.

we came sixth that year didnt we?  fingers and legs crossed aye ??  and then he was shit ....

Maybe he does/did but 2 managers now have failed to use him!  MON hardly used him and GH sent him to the reserves.  Surely thats enough to tell you that "i'm not wanted or good enough here.  I should move on to a club where there is more opportunity for me to play".

seems nzogbia has quite a penchant for going on strike?  twice in a year!

According to the Sun report, Wigan seemed to like trying to squeeze more out his suitors:-

"Birmingham have had an £8million offer for the Frenchman on the table for weeks but Wigan have been trying to squeeze more out of his suitors"

you might be right Rick. But then again, MON bought a lot of players and didn't use them. GH fell out with a number of players and didn't use them. McLeish has told everyone "clean slate" so he might react positively to that.

Maybe but how many really want Habib Beye to stay at villa?  Who would rather we get some money for him and get him off our wage bill?  GH fell out with him as his attitude was rubbish and prob cuz he was rubbish. MON prob didnt use him as he really did feel he was good enough and prob regretted signing him.   Out of all the players who are being offered a clean slate, Beye is one who I wish would get lost.  I hope Warnock can rediscover the form he showed when he was first signed and I hope Ireland can live up to his potential.  Beye is too old and very very average

Think all 3 are just a year left. Realistically if we can see this season out with NZogbia and maybe Naughton and that Mariga lad coming in, then next summer the wage bill would be almost half of last summer going in.

Since last summer started we have shed a fair amount.

Mliner - 3m
Young - 3m
Downing - 2.5m
Friedel - 3m
Reo Coker - 2m
Carew - 3m
Sidwell - 2.5m
Eugene Davies - 1.5m
Shorey - 1.5m
Gardner - 1m

So 22.5 million or so.

Coming in, lets assume NZogbia comes

Ireland 2.5
Bent 2.5
Makoun 2
Given 2.5
NZogbia 2.5

So we about 10 million up wages wise at the moment. Not counted loans away and in or the smaller wages for the likes of Salifou, Osbourne etc... From here maybe the policy will be whoever goes is replaced younger and on a lower wage. Cuellar goes, Naughton comes in on half the money for example.

I'm pretty sure we were told that Ireland signed for the same wages as Milner, that Bent is on more than £50k a week and N'Zogbia is reported to want £60k a week, but you're right in principle.  THis should bring our wages/turnover issue back under control and then it's a matter of buying more cleverly from there on in.

Looks like Naughton could be out of the equation:-
