We'd got carew and Sidwell off the books, you daft apeth.

As I've tried to explain but you are unwilling or unable to grasp; I want us to sign Parker, personally I don't care about the wage bill. However, I realise that the club do so they are unlikely to go for it while they've got 6 other central midfield players on the books.

We bought Makoun while still having Petrov, NRC, Bannan, Hogg and Delph on the books.  If they're just looking at the wages issue on an individual position basis rather than as a whole, they're even more incomepetent than I assume them to be.

It doesn't matter how many central midfielders we have, the fact is that they're unlikely to be good enough, as was demonstrated last season.  Ditto the defence.  If we want to improve, then we need better players.

I'm not sure Makoun or Delph have shown they won't be good enough Risso, that's a bit harsh. In fact both of those have shown plenty of talent.

Clearly you weren't around when we signed Harewood...Or 10 seconds after we appointed McLeish.
Agreed.  Some of the repositioning on here has been shameful.

there seems a bit of a ganging up almost kind of bullying going on here and i find it a somewhat disturbing tendency from some people -very unsettling to see.

The wage bill has to pay attention to position. If you've got 6 central midfield players then if you buy more some of them are unlikely to play meaning you're paying them for doing nothing. As I see it we have Petrov, Makoun, Delph, Bannan, Ireland and Hogg. Similarly we have Dunne, Collins, Cuellar and Clarke at centre back.

One of the things you criticised MON for was having players on good money not contributing. As it stands if we buy anyone in either of the positions mentioned we're going to be back to the same issue.

Five first team starters from the second half of last season have gone. One has been replaced. One other might be replaced. Do our plans extend further than that? The wages might be dropping but so is the quality.

It's a fair point.  But then the board have to balance keeping us competitive with getting that wagebill to turnover ratio into a sustainable position.

From the playing perspective, the three that haven't been/aren't going to be replaced are Ash/Downing (depending on where you see N'Zogbia playing), Walker and NRC.  I'm guessing the idea is that Warnock (Walker) and Ireland (Ash) take two, but for me it still leaves an issue in centre mid.

Eh?
I wasn't referring to Chris.
It's undeniable that there were a lot of volte faces after the Harewood signing and McLeish appointment.
You'll see it again if Ireland has ONE decent game.

truth don't come into it really- we don't know the truth. My point is Risso has been banging on about the finances for ages with various denials from people of how bad they are on here. Come today and after a statement from AM, he's being told there's no money from the exact same people who were denying it 24 hours earlier and now its apparently twice as bad where the club will disappear into a Greece-style black hole if the manager buys a replacement for Beye without getting rid or shooting him first.

Sounds like Fucking Eck is prepared to move on

sportinglife.com

"I've been in this situation many times before, so it is important that we don't end up with a custard pie on our faces," he said.

"We do have others in mind that if the particular deal we are looking at falls through - we have to have fall-backs if that one falls through.

"We have to look at alternatives as well, we can't just hang our hat on one player. We have to be ready if we don't get the particular player that we are after."
