"Imagine what a manager like mcleish could do with a chairman that backed him", well Mr Krulak if randy doesn't back him and he doesn't do great, he's a ex bluenose and he'll get fuckin slaughtered and I think you'll be quite shocked by the vitriol that washes down off the holte like a tidal wave!

AMC: 'Great competition within the squad. I won't be able to keep everyone happy every week. We didn't want to sell Stewart, just like Man Utd didn't want to sell Ronaldo. We had a very good offer, & a player who wanted to go. Totally believe Shay will be a great addition to this club.

The important part:
At the moment it will be ONE more, we are looking to utilize the squad. We bought two players in January you must remember. We have players in the squad who are looking to make amends from last year. I can't just go to Randy Lerner & say I want £10m for this player?

It is not a case of saying what we are going to spend..Are we going to spend this, or spend that. There are plans at the club to keep wages and finances at a certain level & I am working with the club to see this through. But, if push comes to shove, we may be able to do something. But at the moment, 'We are only looking to bring one more in'.

Just listening to the WM interview, he's said at the moment there's only one more coming in, then he'll take stock. He wants to give the other big money signings a chance and the money is there if it's needed.

Er, what other big money signings?

What a load of arse this summer has been.  Crap owner, crap manager, crap squad.

A lot of 'Lerner bashing' on here I see, whilst I naturally want us to go out and bring in players lets be realistic.

For every place in the Premier League it is worth what £1m? - Realistically we should be finishing anywhere between 6th - 12th, which equates to £6m. When you consider the money that parasites like Warnock, Beye, Heskey, Ireland and others have taken out of the club can you really blame Randy? The squad (with N'Zobia) should be good enough to finish 12th, so with that in mind why should Randy sanction spending another £20m on top to possibly finish 6th and therefore have an extra £6m in 'prize' money?

Over the past few years Randy has showed his financial clout on numerous occasions but lets be honest throwing money away is not something that is good practice. Yes, he loves Villa, Yes he is a top fella, but he's also a very good business man, you don't become that if you chuck your money away.

As much as it hurts to say it, the days of Aston Villa being in the race to win things is long gone, I don't lay any blame on Randy - I wish he'd have arrived 10 years previous. Football is almost pointless to Villa, we're just one of those clubs that make up the numbers.

Well done to those who have renewed next season, I hope you enjoy the football. Personally I couldn't face up to the excitement of pushing for 7th... the problem here is football, not Aston Villa and certainly not Randy Lerner.

I like RL and cannot fault him for what he tried to do at VP  but have to take issue with him being "a very good business man"

RL has spunked far too much money on shit players on long contracts, hence our horrific wage bill. Paul fucking Faulkner my arse

If that is true, and the signing is N'Zogbia, then that will mean we've sold Young AND Downing for almost 40 million pounds and reinvested only just over a quarter of it.

That is on top of releasing, what, ten players this summer.

Nowhere near sufficient, and smacks of an owner who doesn't care anymore.
Also, how much tv money do we get every year? Why aren't we dipping in to that as well?

I'd love to play poker with all you guys.  This is just McLeish putting the screws to Whelan, nothing more.  Now Whelan has to figure out what McLeish means - is the one signing his guy?  Or has he moved on?  Or the fact that he's open to other possibilities and AVFC looking to other creative midfielders mean N'Zogbia is a distant memory?  Or has McLeish laid out his line in the sand, and that's that?

Brilliant move by AMC to get the git thinking.  And the longer this goes on without another serious bidder in the mix, the more it favors AVFC getting N'Zogbia for the original asking price.  Should put an end to this 'haggling' for CNZ.

Reading all these pages, and hardly a backbone among the lot here.  I could take all you for thousands.  Anyone in here even remotely experienced in the art of the negotiation?

-C.
Whelan has said that he's prepared to sell N'Zogbia because he's in the last year of his contract. He also said the price is £10m. We bid £9m. Wouldn't things speed up a little if we just paid £10m?

My thoughts precisely.
And gate money.
And league placing money
And good cups runs
And sponsorship
And commercial activities.

People go on about how much Lerner has 'put into the club', but fucking hell, there is some income being generated.

Other than spunking it all on managerial compensation,  I really would like to know where the money actually goes.
