If that is true, and the signing is N'Zogbia, then that will mean we've sold Young AND Downing for almost 40 million pounds and reinvested only just over a quarter of it.

That is on top of releasing, what, ten players this summer.

Nowhere near sufficient, and smacks of an owner who doesn't care anymore.

Exactly completely fucking unacceptable. I was looking at buying the new shirt, but might say bollocks to it now. Why should I spend more money if we are not going to bother as a club.

McLeish always seems a bit downbeat, to be fair.

If this turns out to be right, and he definitely said it, then we are playing a very dangerous game by relying on the young players to come good.

And by dangerous, I mean bloody stupid.

If theres any truth in this, then i'm sorry Randy, thanks for all the good work you've done, but please sell the club to someone with sufficient funds.

one signing of quality?  so if he signs 2 one will not be quality?

he says warnock, ireland and the kids will come through .

If he can get Ireland to come through,McCleish deserves a statue next to McGregors outside the ground.

paul franks their head of sport saying he thinks randy is no longer aiming high and settling just to be in the premiership now- the dream is over.

Or brassick.

Appalling if it turns out this way and they class Darren Bent as the previous 'big' signing to salivate over.

If true, poor Benty has joined the wrong club.

Well if he's aiming to stay in the Premier League he still needs to spend more.

It is now abundantly clear why we ended up making the managerial appointment we did.

I'd love to play poker with all you guys.  This is just McLeish putting the screws to Whelan, nothing more.  Now Whelan has to figure out what McLeish means - is the one signing his guy?  Or has he moved on?  Or the fact that he's open to other possibilities and AVFC looking to other creative midfielders mean N'Zogbia is a distant memory?  Or has McLeish laid out his line in the sand, and that's that?

Brilliant move by AMC to get the git thinking.  And the longer this goes on without another serious bidder in the mix, the more it favors AVFC getting N'Zogbia for the original asking price.  Should put an end to this 'haggling' for CNZ.

Reading all these pages, and hardly a backbone among the lot here.  I could take all you for thousands.  Anyone in here even remotely experienced in the art of the negotiation?

-C.

It makes Faulkners statement about not needing to sell Downing to be complete bullshit,as we obviously did. Luckily the youngsters have a years more experience, but its still asking alot of them to perfrorm week in week out.

Right, I've just opened a beer. On a school night.

Let's have a think on how this could look, assuming N'Zogbia arrives.

                Given

Young  Collins  Dunne   Warnock

         Makoun  Petrov

               Ireland

Albrighton                N'Zogbia

                 Bent

Subs: Guzan, Clark, Hogg, Bannan, Delfouneso, Herd, Delph

Lawks.

Hmmmmmm.

Not really, if we hadn't sold Downing we wouldn't need to replace him with N'Zogbia.
