If he wasn't open to coming to Villa I doubt we'd even be at the bidding stage.

The rumour is we haven't got anywhere near what Wigan are asking, no idea what they are asking and what we are offering, this next bit is pure rumour and speculation, but from a source at Villa, ( blah blah we've all heard it) i spoke to this morning, there will be news about an approach for another big Villa player that's happened in the last few days and is on-going, we haven't rejected it by all accounts.

Probably crap and i said as much, but we will have to wait and see but about to break sometime soon.

Who is left? Darren Bent? I didn't think Bent could play for a third English club in 2011. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I doubt Fergie is still sniffing around Ciaran Clark.

There is no other 'big' player apart from Bent.

the story i heard was that our bid was just short of their valuation and i bekieve another half million will be the clincher- your view that our bid was nowhere near seems strange as in that case it would have been rejected out of hand surely.

i think wigan will accept £9.5 or £10m.

As for a bid for another big villa player then it surely can only be darren bent and if he was sold there would be uproar.

Big, as in my description of it, what i mean is first team, prolific, so i would imagine it could be Dunne or Collins maybe Agbonlahor apparently there has been a few sniffing around for him, maybe Petrov, I can't imagine bent would be even in the equation not al least until Jan.

But its probably all crap, I've been assured not.

I've heard that Wenger is very interested in Gabby and as always been a fan, came near to buying him about 2 seasons ago for about 15ML also Newcastle are supposed to have been interested, think the only reason Gabby is still at Villa is because he resolutely refuses to go, which puts teams of going for him.

Wouldn't think we'd get much for Collins or Dunne, so I'm not sure either would be big departures necessarily.

Newcastle were keen on Gabby in Jan. If they've followed that up and he's not sure of his future here, it's not completely out of the question. It would be a mistake to let him go though, I think. I'm far from convinced Bent will be with us longterm and Gabby could have a crucial role to play again in 12/18 months. He's popular with the fans too, so a board who have done a fair bit (though perhaps not deliberately) to piss off and alienate fans recently might need to tread carefully.

If it's season then I'd be worried about Citeh needing to fill a Tevez, 25 goal a season, sized gap in their team!
