If 10m is the opening bid then we're going to get screwed by Wigan, especially now they know we have the Downing money burning a whole in our pockets. Wonder if AM will claim he's only getting half the money again?

You're assuming that the negotiating has only just started; we may well have commenced this 2-3 weeks' ago and what has recently been reported is the end of the process, not the start.
I suspect we may end up above £10m but not much (we may agree a few add-ons to satisfy Whelan's need to fel tha the's "won"). Or perhaps there'll be a player-exchange ... Beye, Cuellar, Heskey etc

Wigan want ten mill.  Not nine, not eleven, not nine point eight five. Ten.  Pay it, buy him, move on.  Stop fannying around.
Says who?

I do. Problem? Oh, also, Dave Whelan!!
Not that I've seen.

When and where did he say this?

Beye or Heskey please! Another couple of million saved on wages for nothing has got to be a bonus!

Maybe but for once i'd like us to act smart in the transfer market. Was there any reason we had to ok Downing's transfer straight away? Another week wouldn't have harmed Liverpool or Downing frankly and maybe it would have saved us a few quid.

It may have been because it puts us in a position to offer a straight cash deal to Wigan, rather than the structured payments the likes of Everton, Sunderland would probably have to put in.

Well it would have cost an extra weeks wages for a start, and would have acheived precisely fuck all.

If there's £20m on the table for Downing then you take it, before someone realises King Kenny's lost it.

We didn't ok it straight away, it was at least  the third bid to my knowledge. However, once they met the price surely we want him out and the money in to allow our manager to spend it.

SSN last night said they spoke to Whelan who said N'Zog can go for £10m, but Villa's bid is slightly short of this.

If so, very frustrating. Just get it done!

We've bid £9 million.

Just go up a mill and get him in Randy ffs - we've just ripped Liverpool off, use the cash.

I work with a Croat, and reading it with his accent works perfectly.

Good, simple tactics Tim!
We've definitely done great business on the Downing deal (although "undisclosed sum" sounds a bit dodgy!!), at least 5m more than he's worth, so we should be using that to get who we want...and if we want N'Zog, use some of the "extra" to get him, NOW!

If we had bid £10m straight off then Whelan would now be saying he wants £11m.

Yep, it cant be straight forward dealing with that pie wrangling decrepit old monkey scrote.
But if £10m is his price, pay the man and damn his impudence!
