BAD news about us ALL over ssn including yellow ticker all f'in day

GOOD news about us ignored or jazzed up to include fake bids from top teams

If this all comes off I'll be very happy with what the board have done. Ultimately they've appointed a manager who, for all his faults, should be able to get something out of Dunne, Collins and Warnock, and hopefully Ireland.

If that comes off it saves circa £25m on shipping 'em out and replacing them.

Then Downing for £20m - we can get Given, Parker and N'Zogbia for that money. I be those three will be on the same roughly as what Friedel, Ash and Downing were earning.

That's without taking into account the drop in the wage budget from Sidwell, NRC, Pires, Carew...

And tbh, atleast on paper, I don't see our squad as any weaker than last year.

Clever investment.

I'll be very happy with those 3, but we still need more if they do come to Villa.

If we get these players in, plus getting Warnock, Dunne and the mad one back on form, it would be a minor miracle. Hey, you never know.

Although I can't see us getting Parker. Chelsea want him on loan, Spurs want him but won't pay big. Our best chance is if we outbid Spurs, I reckon.

I understand that SSN spout a load of bollocks in the name of tv 'entertainment'. Does that count?

I'm putting myself in Scotty Parker's shoes... why would I want to be a short-term replacement for Essien for a few months and when he returns I'll be on the bench mostly?

Of course it'd be nice earning a big salary not doing much, but Scotty Parker strikes me as one of those player's who hungry to play each and every game. He's not the sort of player who'd like to be on the bench, he'd like to out there doing his stuff.

For all their dramatisation I think SSN are among the best when it comes to football reporting. Guardian are good too.

The Mail are the most overrated, I think.

He has to consider his top 4 recruitment gentlemen's club chances too. Sorry, I mean "England".

Devil's advocate here...

He'll get games at a Champions League club pushing for the title before the European Championships... If he succeeds they'll sign him permanently, if not then he'll go back to West Ham - if they're up he seems relatively happy there, if not then he's back to square one except his transfer fee comes down a bit and he's probably got more options open to him.

It might be a little disrespectful to him, but I ultimately it offers the chance to cement the slot in the England team going into a major tournament.

Playing well at Villa or Spurs will just result in whoever is in better form out of him and lardarse.
