Matt Kendrick saying if Wigan mess us around, we're willing to go to Plan B and Plan C, namely McGeady and SWP!

We all need to collectively pray that Plan A comes off.

Negotiations wise, it doesn't hurt for them to know we've got alternatives and they haven't got us over a barrell!

my concern is what happens on the pitch - randy and co can sort the finance , i go to see aston villa play football not worry about wage and resale issues.

Totally agree. Are we really bothered about resale value if he peforms well and helps us get into europe, higher in the league, cups runs etc. All of which generate more revenue and help attract better players.

Current player of the year and some are not sure due to resale value?

Looks like the Club are bothered:

From todays Mail:

McLeish continues to monitor Scott Parker’s situation at West Ham, but reports Villa have made a bid for the 30-year-old midfielder are premature, as they are reluctant to commit themselves to a £7million fee and £60,000-a-week wages for a player with little sell-on potential.

Christ if McGeady and SWP are alternatives to N'Zog I pray we get N'Zog.

Brilliant. If we can get Given in today and N'Zogbia by Monday, the board will have a bit of breathing space. Two top quality signings IMO.

I'll be happy once we've signed Given and N'Zogbia as a start. but only once they're confirmed. Still a lot more work to do.

SWP instead of Nzog would be waving a white flag at any hope of mid table.

SWP as well as NZog I could live with on a low fee and reduced wages, but if he takes the wage bill back up and stops us signing better players in other positions then would rather not bother.

I would be apoplectic if we replaced Young AND Downing with McGeady.

If Kendrick is correct we're planning to play 'hardball' over the fee, thus leaving the door open for Sunderland to come in and nick him.

Really clever that, pretending we're not desperate for a wide player and telling them to 'take it or leave it'. Cos there are other targets out there (Faulkner knows this), quality ones too, like Sean Wrong Phillips and Aiden McGeady, yeah, "so you better accept that offer Mr Whelan or we'll take our money elsewhere".

Sunderland will never be able to pull off a bluff like that, what with them having signed 9 players already, whilst we've signed no f*cker.

Genius, Faulkner. F*cking genius.

Has anyone noticed a daily pattern emerging, where the National Press post rumours in the early morning about us bidding for players left, right & centre, only for Matt Kendrick to come and piss on our chips around lunchtime?

It's almost like the Nationals, who have always portayed us as 'small-time' and unambitious, have actually been caught out by the sheer speed of the Club's plummeting ambition, such that perversely they now see us as bigger players than we've now become. Leaving Kendrick as the lone purveyor of the sobering reality.

Were Wigan not openly courting Wright-Phillips? Might well be why we've suggested that he's a 'target' for us.

Townsend was briliant when we signed him at 30
