Even if we buy N'Zogbia, we'll have gone from having Young and Downing with Albrighton as a capable young backup, to N'Zogbia and Albrighton with no back up.  Which quite frankly, is a load of old shit.

Question is will N'Zogbia want to come knowing he's the only fully fledged wide player in the club, taking nothing away from Albrighton, but the guy hasn't put in a full shift yet, he's still learning his trade, we should have signed N'Zogbia before Downing left, that would have been the smart thing.

It's not a load of old shit as N'Zogbia is better than Downing and we'd be better off than where we were with Downing and Albrighton. However, we do still need another player in, which could be a player that can cover wide as well as the middle. Like Young did I suppose. At least we'd have money from the Downing sale to buy N'Zogbia AND another player.

I sense a bit of trying to make Downing out to be not as good as he was now that he's left.  I've seen nothing from N'Zogbia to suggest that he's better than Downing at all, and don't imagine that if he does move, that it'll be for more than £10m.

Anyone reckon we will have a net spend now, i.e. spend over £37m, I think it's very unlikely.

If McLeish can get the likes of Ireland, Dunne and Warnock back to form, then no, but mainly as I don't think we need it!  Follow me trough here....

Keeper - lets go mad and say £10m for Foster.
FB - Hutton at circa £4m.
Parker for the reported £7m
Also N'Zogbia for £9m to replace Downing with Ireland taking Ash's central role.
Total = £30m

So, playing in a 4-2-3-1:-
Foster
Young/Hutton
Dunne
Collins
Warnock/Young
Parker
Makoun
Albrighton
Ireland
N'Zogbia
Bent

Players to come in would be Marshall/Guzan, Lichaj, Cuellar, Clark, Petrov, Deph, Bannan, the Fonz and Weimann.  Plus Heskey if he stays.

Decent squad, IMO.

If McLeish decides the three I mentioned aren't worth trying again then you'd expect circa £10m for them, plus the £8m extra from sales, and another £10m of the clubs own money would give us some good buying power.  Maybe £15m on Dann, £7-8m on a good LB and the rest for a high profile loan move to take Ireland's place.

Agree, i'm just not sure where this following has come from, i mean who has the bloke played for that's allowed him this much vaunted reputation, however it seems there is some rumour towards him and we need to act.

I think Nzogbia is on the same level as Downing as I personally only took notice of him towards the end of the season when he managed to score some important goals for Wigan.  Apart from that, nothing much was ever said of him.  Judging by what Matt Kendrick has reported on, we are looking to go after him and/or McGeady.

Also, where did this Mata talk come from?  NO CHANCE IN HELL!  We need to be more realistic here people

You sense wrong. I know exactly what I thought of him and that hasnt changed apart from my opinion on his character, which was never high anyway but lower now.
I said he was a good player and would come good when most people were slagging him off. But I'm not going to exaggerate his skills either and I think N'Zogbia is most certainly a better player.

I have reservations about his character too but if we got him him for half what we sold Downing for I reckon that would be fantastic business.

We've sold Downing. We haven't bought N'Zogbia. At this moment in time comparison of their talents is irrelevant.

Of course they do. They get plenty of cash but still get him back next season.
It's not going to happen though.

Agree - I still think that Chelsea (Essien injury) or Spurs will be the likely destination
Not sure he will return to the Championship though. West Ham will struggle to get back, methinks

Dean Scoggins from the Sun, has tweeted that we are in discussions with Wigan for Nzogbia.  Before you all start saying negative stuff about the sun and the reporter, he was one of the first reporters to break the news about Eck resigning from the scum and villa wanting to speak to him/sign him.  Turns out he was right!

No, I mean the deal West Ham want wont happen. I can definitely see him coming to Villa.
