Parker, Makoun, Delph and a rejuvinated Ireland with Nzogbia would makes things a little better. Chuck in Given or Foster, Hutton and Dann and we'd be decent.

Surely AM must have some influence over Foster and Dann? Or maybe they didn't like him either?!

All this angst is quite impressive, but I'm sure that BCV misery arse could out woe you all.

think we'll be struggling next season. Maybe not relegation but near enough. Gonna put a tenner on AM getting the boot before christmas - easy money.

You might be able to get to a game with that £10 greg. There will be offers.

Unless we're bottom three, I would bet any money on him being here long after that. And even if we are, they'll give him time.

I have a feeling we'll do OK, maybe as high as 6th -and maybe that almost qualifies as a good season these days.  We're generally at our best when we're written off. It's when we're expected to do well that things go pear shaped.

As low as 7th might still be enough for Europe, depending on who sweeps up the domestic cups.

6th/7th? really? we flirted with relegation and came good at the end of the season but 4 of the best performers last season are now gone, so you'll looking at the weaker performers from last season plus Bent and some youngsters + whoever AM buys. I still can't see 6th/7th

Depends what we do know. We've retreated back as far as we can pretty much. Now its time to cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war.
....Alright then, buy some class players. Then get some sort of feelgood factor in and take that into the new season. Momentum.

Go and buy Given, Dann, Enrique, Parker, N'Zogbia, Chamberlain and Sturridge and we'll say no more about it.

Maybe Greg,

But:

-Think back to Everton post Rooney sale. Poorish looking team but the departure galvanised them.

-Us post Yorke -players thrived on the fact they could prove we weren't a one man team.

We do have do conclude a decent bit of business between now and Sept 1st, but is it entirely out of the question that the likes of Ireland, Delph, Bannan, Makoun and Albrighton may step up?  If just two/three of that lot do and we get a good response from our new signings (whoever they may be) I think we could be in good shape.

Worst case scenario?  Down near the foot of the table at Christmas and we bring in someone like Hughes or Hodgson. We won't go down, I'm fairly certain of that.

Suppose so. depends how much money we have and if AM can spot a decent player or attract them . I'd like to see a keeper, a centre half, a fullback, a centre midfielder, and replacement for young and Downing in at the minimum. That little lot will probably cost the entire Young and Dowing fees and probably a bit more even if we're not buying top quality

Not really transfer related but it's not really worth a new topic, but just caught a couple of minutes of a Manure pre season game going on in the USA, and words can't describe how awful it is to see Ash in THAT shirt.
