Quite. Forget Dave fucking Whelan, how many Villa fans believe we're paupers now? Make your mind up, do we have a billionaire and money to spend or do we have to flog the family silver to raise cash?

Yeah and he's contradicted himself a couple of times so why believe one "tweet" and not the other?
He knows more than most about what's going on but privy to Villa's spending power he is not.

Is the correct answer.

In fairness you can bolster your squad with free transfers and loan signings

None of which apply to Charles N'Zogbia. And some other players mentioned in articles that week.
Otherwise, yes you can and he will probably will use that avenue. And why not.

Somebody said to me the other day, pointing out the fact that he's a dollar billionaire, so in the UK actually don't make him that well of as he's doing his wheeling and dealing in the UK.

Just a meaningless pointless fecking waste of time thought.  ;)

Wasn't it reported in the mail a few days ago that there had been zero contact with Wigan regarding Nzogbia.

I wouldn't say Heskey was one of our better players he played well for about 4 games

That is four good games more than most of them last season though.

Being one of last seasons better players is damning with faint praise somewhat. But he really was very good under Houllier before doing his 'usual disappearing for half the season with injuries' act. We missed him badly when he got injured, as he was becoming an important player for Houllier.

I would still rather we found a new home for him, but only if he can replaced with another centre forward. If it just means one less player on the wage bill and no replacement then I would rather he stayed as back up to Gabby and Bent tbh.

A real shame how it turned out last season.
His first few games under Houllier, he was on fire.
He was holding the ball up well and pinging some lovely passes out to Ashley and Downing.
Excellent goal against Wolves as well.

Yes I think if he hadn't of got injured, we would have done a lot better. There again if we were not in danger of relegation come January I suspect our currently parsimonious owner would not have released funds for Bent, so maybe it was as well in the end.

Heskey wasnt one of our best players last season and though he's a nice guy and you know what you're getting from him, he needs to get to feck as soon as possible.
I'm hoping Sven will come a calling.

I've no problem with McLeish coming in and assessing the squad to see who can and can't be worked with. They're expensive assets and though as fans we'd like to shift some of the useless shithouses out and get new exciting useless shithouses in, it's prudent to take stock first.
But a couple will have to go and even a new manager will know who. He wont completely disregard Houllier's and other staff's thoughts.

For what it's worth I think McLeish will make four or five signings. At least one of which will be a high profile loan signing.
Houllier and McAllister were talking about getting players in. Why should McLeish have any less resources?

I hope you are right, I am leaning towards only a keeper coming in unless Downing is sold.

His personal wealth, assets and access to his family's trust fund run into several billion pounds by all accounts.
He's fabulously wealthy. But no more than your average fabulously wealthy premier league owner and of course, with a billion dollar American football franchise amongst other enterprises, it's not all Villa's.

Yes it was reported the other day that no move for hutton, nzogbia and Parker.

Regarding Wigan it was whelan who said back in January  nzogbia had a release clause in his contract of £9m or did thst only apply in the event of relegation?

Wigan also revealed on deadline day that nzogbia had turned down a last minute bid by Newcastle and had no wish to return there.

It was, in fact a spokesman for the club was reported as saying " I don't know where all this b*ll*x is coming from but if we ever get into a position of being able to afford the Mail I'm dam well going to find out".

Right, so if in one article N'Zogbia is a top target and the next day or so there has been no contact, why believe any of the articles without quotes?

Of course, some of it is going to be right and you can be interested in a player without officially contacting the club but the point still stands. This is the guy most assume knows more about Villa than any other journo, getting things wrong.
Understandable because Villa are as watertight as a frogs chuff when it comes to info leaks.

Heskeys shocking miss against Sunderland followed by stupidly getting sent off cost us dearly and he surpassed himself with his ludicrous behaviour against Wigan where he should have been sent off before Mcallister hauled him off- I hope never to see him again in a villa shirt.

Sullivan says that they haven't received one single offer for Parker.
Surprising, if true.

He says he'll loan him out on condition West Ham can have him back if they get promoted.

I think we should take them up on that.

I wonder if one transfer will start off a chain of others?  For example, Scott Parker goes to Tottenham, we get Palacios.  Downing to Liverpool, we get Charlie boy from Wigan, Wigan get Wright Phillps etc.  Not very well articulated but I hope you get what I mean?
