Bruce is my tip for first PL sacking.

My outside bet for relegation this time round. Last two years, my tips were West Ham and Boro - won about £300 on those two!!!

I doubt Woodgate will make it out of pre season training alive then.  Imagine, first practice corner comes in and he connects with Shawcross, or any of their 10 18stone Centre Backs and Kablammo (In a Batman stylee) his head comes off

Jonathan 'made of glass' Woodgate has signed for Stoke.

I wonder if that means Scott Dann isn't going there now.........???

Agree, Sunderland have bought a bigger squad, not necessarily a better one.  It will keep them mid-table which is probably what they are aiming for.  Bruce is a half decent, if extraordinarily ugly manager.

Yeah.  He seems to have a good relationship with his manager and they have that all important 'shared vision'.  It will take a spectacularly bad run of results for him to be sacked.

Arsenal have completed the signing of Gervinho.

Now he just needs to sort out the bastard who held him down and stuck a hot iron on his forehead.

RE Bruce: He is already on a horrific run of results (the latter half of last season) and has had quite a lot of money up there over recent years. With the press banging on about their signings, expectations will be through the roof. A bad start and the pressure will really be on him.

  General agreed valuations.

   N'Zog.........£9-12m
   Parker.......£6-7M
   Given.........£4m.

Downing we want £20m, so not a great discrepancy tbh.

I would have signed Woodgate on that deal as well.

That bad run was after Bent joined us, so he had a good excuse.  I suppose after being given all that to spend and the Henderson money also he no longer has that excuse, but I expect them to start strongly, fade a bit and then finish midtable.

Agreed it was, but we are being rational. A bad start and some bad stats will be dragged up and the pressure will be on him.

This has probably and most likely been mentioned somewhere in the 459 pages but the metro has just linked us to Nicklas Bendtner! WTF?!?!  I'm pretty sure that this will not happen although, I have a funny feeling that when Arsenal made contact with us about the possible signing of Downing, he may have been, mentioned as part of the deal.
Also, still no Given signing yet, why is this taking so long?

By all accounts, Arsenal want £12m for Bendtner, but 'would accept £9m.'

What a piss take.

If it was Heskey at Bendtner's current age then Heskey....saying that, still Heskey.
