Rather have Naughton than Hutton tbh.

Parker, absolutely ideal for us, much better player than Petrov, and plays the same role.Players like Parker can play at a consistent level into his mid 30s.Be a cracking signing.

N'Zogbia i'm quite excited about tbh.

Would go for Jarvis as well.

He's be a massively better version of Petrov.

I'd see it as our most important signing of the Summer.
Hopefully McLeish will name him captain.  Parker that is, not Stan.

 signing .

aye. 7m for parker for probably 3 years? Can't see it.

Not for £7m, i can't either. It's a shame because he would be ideal, but £7m for a 30 year old would be stretching it.

A third of the cost of Stewart Downing who is 3 and a half years younger and Parker is a current England first teamer, unlike SD. You have to look both ways at deals. I'd take him all day long for £7m, just what our midfield needs.
He was superb last season in a terrible West Ham team.
Should have won the player of the year award.
He would be a real asset to have alongside Makoun and Delph.

Regarding him being the best in a poor team, every game I watched he was dominant and influential, the players round him (Hitz included) were chronic.

We really need a midfield leader and he would be it.

Not sure we are even him for him though, the rumours on him are not as loud as Given, Hutton and N'Zogbia.
Agree with every word Rip. Although a different kind of player to SD he puts himself on the line and shows bottle where SD can't be arsed. Whether we actually stand a realistic chance of landing him is another matter. A lot of the posters on here keep going on about two wingers...do we need two?...a change to some of the predictability of the last year and a half would be welcome and a leader figure like Parker could only be good for the team spirit and playing style.

I can't believe that people are moaning about us wanting to sign Parker??? It's absolutely mental - have people forgotten he was Player of the year LAST SEASON?!? He's 30 and he's got 4 years in him for sure, I would imagine he's he kind of player who looks after himself well and he is exactly the kind of player we should be hoping to sign to bring on Delph, Barry and Gary. I think it would send a hugely positive message to the fans and media if we beat Spurs to his signature.

Waste of money at his age? Don't make me laugh.

4 years????

2 at best I reckon

okay for 5 million or less

Regarding player of the season. He was player of the season in a piss poor West Ham team that got relegated. Also, I seem to remember Habib Beye being Newcastle player of the season the year they went down. You cant really base your arguement on that.

I think he is decent, thats about it really.

Really? So you give no creedance to him winning the Football Writer's Player of the Year and the fact it was widely recognised that he should have beaten Bale for the PFA?

"Decent" - again, don't make me laugh.

....so you think Parker will be a busted flush at 32? Two years after probably is best season? Cannot see how you come to that. I can't really believe people are questioning Parker, but that's the nature of a forum I suppose...everyone entitled to their opinion  :)

....it's just that I'm right  ;)

Two legit concerns re Parker, as much as I think he would be a great addition to our team...
1.his age
2.sort of related to 1, his tendency to get injured and miss crucial chunks of season...risk bound to increase as he gets older

Just trying to think of how many top class central midfielders play until 34???

If Parker has got a good 4 years left in then surely the top 6 will be in for him

I watched the 2010/2011 season review dvd over the weekend...

You mean someone bought that shit?!
Another purchaser here!

I actually enjoyed watching it (probably due to certain away games attended), but agree with rick... defending was shocking at times! Also, we're really gonna miss Ashley Young!

NO NO NO! didn't buy it,  just rented it for free lol!

Parker, Given and N'Zogbia would be a very good bit of business.

Definitely agree that Parker, Given and Nzogbia would be great signings.  Possibly the addition of Hutton for a small fee and Kranjcar?

Would make a lot of us a bit more optimistic about the new season and an extra dimension or two to the team

Mackems writing in to Sky seem to think N'Zogbia is up there at the moment with a view to a deal.
