The new boss, same as the old boss.

Who both seem to be carrying the cross for the mistakes of the boss before.

Spurs seem to be making a good fist of hanging onto modric . . . Helped no doubt by retaining a strong ambition and a six year contract. Why we don't offer more than 4 year deals I don't know. We'd at least get more money if we sell.

He's been on holiday, back today to tell them he wants to go to Chelsea. Lets see how well they do then.

According to the BBC Abramovich's yacht has been seen off the the coast of Croatia.  Spurs can make all the noise they want, Modric wil be off to either Chelsea or Man Utd.  He's a decent player but I don't think he's half as good as Harry would have us believe,

As for Downing...good riddance.

After these latest developments, all I can say is that Downing is a fucking scumbag.
We know players have no loyalty at all, but his actions in engineering this move are taking the piss.

We signed him injured, when he finally played that season he was sub standard.
He then plays well for a full season and then wants out.

I wish him nothing but the worst in his career. Fucking little weasel.

Totally different to I how feel about Ashley who always gave his all for the cause and understandably left to join the 2nd biggest club in the world.

I'm also wishing to bet that our club, which is rapidly turning into a fucking feeder club, will not spend the full proceeds from Ashley and Downing, when in actual fact that should be investing £10m + on top of that amount.

The new boss, same as the old boss.

I have a really bad feeling about the amount of money we are going to spend.

AM has been quoted as saying he may not have all the money. I don't read this as mind games so other clubs think we have no money I read it as we aren't going to spend.

The reliance on youth supports this, I think we will buy a GK and then there will be a couple of free transfers/cheap buys. Lets be honest what is the draw for Nzogbia to come to us???

The truth is that to even consolidate your position in the Premier, you need to invest in players.
Merely spending the same or less than you bring in is not good enough.

Two of our three best players leaving, the third will probably want out at the end of this coming season and let's be honest, apart from Ashley, Downing and Bent, the squad is pretty so-so.

All this added to the fact that we've took on a sub-standard Manager with a history of managing a small budget and playing coma inducing football.

I'm off round to Chris Smith's to raid his medicine cabinet for some Prozac.

Yes MD.
I was referring to the ever growing similarity in transfer policy to Herbert.

I can see another Barry saga happening here with Downing.  Liverpool are a disgrace if they offered only £15m for him.  We should hold out for £20m.  Ian Taylor was asked the question on talksport if Joe Cole could be part of the deal.  How many of you would like that?  I wouldnt as I dont rate Cole at all.  Past his best (whatever that was) and is on too much money.

Which is difficult to argue against, but hard to accept given the early promise of 2006-09.

I'm convinced there is a good player in Joe Cole still, but as has been said, the wages are a hige issue, seeing as he went to Liverpool on a free. Also, the further he gets from London, seemingly the worse his football becomes. We'd see a better player than was at Liverpool, but not as good as he was in Chelsea or West Ham. However, I don't think it's gong to happen for one minute.

It is incredible that they pay up for Henderson and Carroll then offer silly low bids for Downing, from a better club and for an established international. Dalglish is a conniving little shitbag, Dirty fucker as a player, dirty fucker as a manager. I will laugh from here to lands end if they finish outside the top 4. Oh and Kenny was shit at Newcastle 10 years ago, rode the fans love for 6 months against some of the poorest prem sides at the top in many a season and will have all the hard work next season.

As for Downing, the little scroat can feck off. Enjoy his commitment Liverpool, but pay up first. You would have thought they would have learnt their lesson with Barry!

still got the rest of this tread to read before i start posting my pissed off posts but this is spot on ..

Not that there is any such rumour of this but i seriously feel we should consider Owen Hargreaves, aside of all the injury problems he feels confident that he's now OK, some sort of deal must be able to be worked out in relation to his injury problem and we all know Owen Hargreaves when firing on all cylinders is a very good midfielder, much better than Villa could have ever expected to field in normal circumstances.

We should look at him, also there is the point that the guy needs a way back into the game, someone should give him that chance with a bit of dignity, Villa could easily do that.

Not sure about this at all.  Utd got rid of him for a reason.  he is too much of a risk despite his efforts on You tube of trying to convince people he is fit

Just the Henderson fee alone should be enough to tell Liverpool any talk of Downing going would require a two figured fee starting with the number 2.

I agree, but a team like Utd think differently to most, there he is taking up a berth, here, providing the financial arrangement was in Villa's favour, we could be taking on one very determined player, and Hargreaves in that mood is pretty mighty to have in your squad.

Truth of the matter is that I'm not particularly pissed off with Liverpool for coming in with a low bid.  How often do we say on here that we should 'test the waters' with £Xm for a player we fancy?  It's business and they can bid what they like, just as we can turn it down.  OK, the player himself is showing some disloyalty, but is that at all surprising in the modern game?  I reckon he'll go and we'll get somewhere around the £20m mark for him, which is good money.  What concerns me more is who we buy with it.  Selling Ashley and Downing is a blow, but signing Milner and N'Zogbia to replace them would be a good bit of business.

And on that note can I say a resounding 'no thanks' on the Hargreaves idea.  Over the last 2/3 years it's been said he's over his injuries just to breakdown again.  A shame as I rate him as a player, but we our focus seems to be getting rid of the high earning non-players, which I'm afraid he would be.

If and I say if it is true that the young money was spent in advance on bent and that we have only the cash left for a keeper as kendrick says , then the sell to buy and playing youth policy we will be looking at will see other teams go past us like Sunderland and Newcastle.

Without decent investmest in this league you will struggle and maybe randy gave it his best shot and it failed , if he no longer can put the money in needed to compete then what will he do-stay and be happy to survive or sell up to a rich investor who can pump in cash to take us forward?
