This has got to be the time to grab Nzogbia. He will now clearly see he is not there first choice. Then reject £18m for Downing and make him play another year. He will be playing for a place in the England squad. So he will still put a shift in. Ngog is no better than the Fonz .......

Just watched Hargreaves doing his little promo vid. Would be worth a 12 month deal IMO. Classy footballer if fit.

Yeah not sure if he can get his head sorted out but if it was a pay as you play deal maybe worth an outside shot

What i think we should do is ask for £20m or whatever it is the club want, then once they've matched it, agree to the deal, but keep them waiting until we have a replacement. If we don't get a suitable replacement, then keep him for another season.

If he does go, then on his return to VP, give the ungrateful twat as much abuse as possible.

If he were willing to accept that then he could go to a much better club than us.

Seems a bit odd, doesn't it? Maybe it's only now that the press have found out/been informed, or maybe it's that we've just secured the N'Zogbia signing.

Although nothing really surprises me in football these days, I have to say that Downing is a special kind of prick for the way he has acted.

Maybe the dutch kid Verhoeck, or possibly Charlie Adam? Surely Liverpool are not going to buy him as well?

Interesting from Sky... apparently Liverpool making an offer for Downing which they knew perfectly well we'd reject is "a statement of intent from Kenny and Liverpool".

For the last month or so I've been entirely avoiding Sky Sports News, Talk Sport, and pretty much the rest of the sports media, as I've come to realise, it just makes me angry.
