Makoun and Ireland haven't done it in a villa shirt chris, as they have not really had a run in the team , I'm saying on the form shown at previous clubs if we could get them playing at that level for us then we would have 2 very good players in our midfield , Makoun himself said he is comfortable in a holding role and with Ireland playing in front and creating openings for bent it would be very nice - whether eck can get them playing at that level again though Is a very big ask.

Onuoha is not a bad shout. Kyle Naughton is another good option.
I'd probably have Enrique as number one left back target.

Depends what there is to spend of course.

Clyne is a good shout. Type of player we should be going for every summer - 2 or 3 players out of the U21 bracket europe wide that are yet to become big names. Would make us big profits in the long run.

Hutton is a solid right back and would do a decent job- Alex knows him from his rangers days which may be in our favour too, given , Hutton. Nzogbia, would be an excellent start to our summer business.

Makoun would be wasted as a defensive midfielder. He is best in a deep lying playmaker role where he has less defensive responsibility and can focus on the side of his game that he is actually good at.

Selling Young along with Downing for £40m and bringing in Adam and Nzogbia for £20m would be good business based on last years performances. Looks like Given is a cert for £4m which leaves money for maybe one more player. Mcleish will sort our defence without the need to buy IMO.

Agree with almost all you say...but, can't see Adam joining us and still think Warnock is a bit of a liability with his diving into tackles and being caught out of position. Think AM will almost certainly have to make do with what we've got.

As well as being decent going forward, Hutton is a big bloke and a physical presence - something we lack at times defensively.

I watched it live. At no point was he in control of the ball. A bundled goal if ever there was one.
