If it was McLeish who originally brought him to the Sty (the coach, that is) It shouldn't be too hard to get him to jump ship.

Not that I'm too crazy at the idea of players dictating who are their preferred members of staff now.

SHA goalkeeping coach is Dave Watson, very highly regarded over there. He used to play for Barnsley and was Eng under 21 keeper before he stopped playing due to serious injury. I can't see Parker coming for a wage drop on his last contract.

We were to get £20m for Downing, if it were added to the £17m for Young and an extra £10m on top (some of which we might recoup if we get rid of some shit), we could get

Foster 8m, a new left back 5m, Dann 8m, Parker 7m, N'Zogbia 9m, Jarvis 8m and a couple of frees (£2m) to meat out the squad.

so you'd be looking at a maximum of a £10m outlay.

Hardly a massive investment, unless the sell to buy policy is a reality.

Sounds pretty reasonable like that Fletch. I'd like to see us replace Freidel & Young (with Given/Foster & N'Zogbia) pretty sharpish and then let McLeish have a few weeks to look at the squad.

Couldn't see Wolves getting rid of Jarvis for £8m. They'd be looking for something similar to the £20m we allegedly want for Downing i'd have thought, unless he's in the last year of his contract? But N'zogbia is the deal i'd like to see done quickly as there sounds like a few clubs sniffing about him.

I think Wolves would be seriously keen to do business £8m for Jarvis. I think you've been smoking some old carpets or something bigbar. £20m? He isnt in Downing's class or even close.

And Greg, £8m is about what you'd expect to pay for a top young keeper and I'd say Foster was that. But Wigan accepted a bid of around £9m last season for N'Zogbia and he has one year less on his contract (but is perhaps higher rated than then) so £9m is about right.
