Yea also like the look of Parker, Makoun and Delph. Diego, Downing and Nzogbia would put us in a major position. And would make everyone start looking at Villa as a real threat. Cuellar - Collins and Baker-Young with Robinson in goal. Real contenders for top 6 .........

Think Parker would be brilliant for us - still got at least 3-4 years left, great on the pitch and in the dressing room, and an excellent role model for the younger players. Still prefer Robinson to Given. Add N'Zogbia to those two as his first 3 buys and McLeish has got me back on side.  Keep Downing til next summer - he'll want to impress this season to keep his England profile positive for next summer. Get Kyle Walker in (on loan again if Redknob won't sell).  Add an unknown Johnny foreigner second striker and that lot would do me fine.

Parker, Makoun and Delph in central midfield.

I like the look of that.

Seconded. Parker would be a coup for McLeish.

Would be over the moon with Parker - at last we are linked to a player who could really add something to our team, please oh please get Given, Parker and Nzogbia, keep Downing and get a full back then we can finaly grow this season

Agreed, current Footballer of the Year, and a real leader and role model for the youngsters. Got to get rid of that fringe though.

Fringe or no fringe - Parker has been class. Doubt we can get him for 5 mil. They will want 10. I think he would be worth 7.

Despite my reservations about his age if we can get him for £5million Scotty Parker would be an ace signing.

Great player that provides us something we lack.

on the OS saturday media watch, there are two articles that have no mention of Villa in them that aren't in the best of the rest section.  One mentions Wes Brown and one mentions Wesley Verhoek, why would the club include these articles if they didn't have something to do with Villa... conspiracy theory?...

Verhoek yes, Brown no thank you very much.

It's something they do everyday.

I just meant that usually there is at least a mention of Villa in the snippet up on the website.

Just read that Shay Given is 35 - so he's got 3 years left in him and a shoulder that's prone to popping out.  We'd better not pay any more than £3M and get a very good back up.

West ham have accepted a Turkish bid of £10m for Parker but he wants to stay in England- maybe a bid of £8m would tempt them, but definately not £5m.

It seems like we've bid 5m as a sign of intent and would like permission to talk to him before we increase our fee. Or that's how I read it.

I wouldn't have a problem with Parker at 5m. Thats reasonable VFM over a 3-4 year contract. However it seems a very very low price so i'm not sure i believe it unless west ham are really in financial trouble.

Can they afford to keep him on the money they are paying him?

The only draw back is that he does look like Ricky Martin.
