For fucks sake, we really should get over Milner.

Its just like the Barry situation all over again. People fawning over getting him back when he is not in the Manc's first team. Saying his body language is all wrong because he isn't playing and putting 2 + 2 togther  = he wants to come back to the villa.

GET OVER IT GIRLFRIEND, HE'S GONE AND HE AINT NEVER COMIN BACK !!

Sounds like the continued influence of GHou; interesting.

It would be great , If he kept giving us phone calls when he spotted a player abroad...  like a silent scout ...

"Randy Lerner speaking.
Hello...? Is somebody there? I can hear somebody breathing, possibly in French. Hello? HELLO...???
FUCK YOU THEN, MR!"

If we've actually bid, you'd like to think/ hope there has been some prior contact to at least establish whether he'd be receptive to the idea of coming back.

Either that or Randy has seen himself being unfavourably compared to HDE and has taken a leaf out of his book by bidding for a player he's got no chance of having to pay for.

Hes wages were doubled for a start , are we going to match his wage .

Didn't the General say we were prepared to match the deal he got at Man City?

If Milner came back he'd have to at least be on the same as Darren Bent.

Milner was offered a huge contract before he left. The same as he's on at Man City I believe. Salary wasn't and wouldn't be the problem with him.

As much as I would love to see Milner come back, I think Mancini will be reluctant to let him go. He actually played a lot more than we think last year (was only completely unused in 5 league games and started close to 2 out of 3). With City being in the Champions League as opposed to the Europa League (where often the reserves were just given a run out) it will mean that there will be more rotation and therefore a greater need for strength in depth. With Milner's versatility, he will be a key squad player for them, I reckon.

I agree that it will do nothing for his English chances and he may get quite frustrated being asked to fill in holes in the team and then being left out altogether for certain games. But on the flip-side, City should be making a challenge for the title this year and even a tilt at the Champs League and Milner will be getting paid handsomely to be part of that. So on balance, the latter 2 factors could win out.

Someone said that if City havent got rid of some their "deadwood" by August and the owners tell Mancini he has to raise some funds, Milner might be the one he would let go and I think that is the most likely way it would happen.

The only way Milner will leave Man City is if Capello tells him he has to be playing every week to guarantee a place at the Euro's and that's not going to happen, he will go anyway because his versatility is invaluable to the England team especially at a major finals. Capello would probably prefer if Milner didn't play every game so he was fresh.

I would rather we were spending time signing a couple of goalies, a right back, a couple of decent centre backs. We are shocking at the back with someone like Bent in the side we are always likely to score goals, if Downing goes then but N'Zogbia and spend the rest on the defence

He's gone forever.  Never ever coming back.  Forget it, brothers and sisters.

And when did James tell you this shellac, or are you guessing like the rest of us ?

I'd love Milner to return and if it means losing young and downing to make it happen then so be it, we should do all we possibly can to try and get him back.

he waas pretty depressed when he thought the m££££y move was going to collaspe .. He aint coming back , and his wage at M££££y was more than Villa.   Maybe Villa tried to match it last minute but sometimes the horse has already bolted..

On face value you'd say Milner coming back is a non-starter.  However, a couple of things strike me:-
1.  He did seem to genuinely like it here.
2.  He'd remember thehe ovation he got when he went off against West Ham.
3.  The hints we were hearing after Bent signed that another big deal was in the works.

So, here's the scenario; Jimmy finds a home he likes after the upheaval of his time at Leeds and Newcastle.  His head gets turned by Man City and goes.  He sees issues there aswell with big egos and is playing out of position and not a first choice.  He realises the grass isn't always greener and decides he was happier with us.  So if the deal can be sorted out financially, he'd want to come back.

Probably all wishful thinking, but if it is at all a possibility we should be trying like mad to get him back here.

I wouldn't totally rule out Milner returning but only late in the window and if City struggle to shift their deadwood.

I think City deadwood is  of much higher quality than your normal deadwood however the only reason they will not be able to shift them is  the fat wages.

That's right, John. And the only way we'll find out is by making a bid for him, rather than doing nothing and saying: 'he won't come back'. All we can do is have a go.
