Don't know much about this Ruffier fellow, but sounds interesting. Seems to have good credentials.

I'm just desperate for something resembling good news!

Really can't see Milner coming back.

If he doesn't well I hope he enjoys playing 1 in 3 at City & doing it on the left wing.

If Milner came back (yes, I know it's unlikely) he'd run the show. He'd be Captain, most things would revolve around him on the pitch and he'd be back in his most effective position. That's what you'd imagine anyway.

Before he left I was imagining Villa building a young team around him for the next 10 years and if he returned I could see that being picked up again.
But I'm not getting carried away. I dont know how reliable the MEN is or how far down this route Villa are, if at all.
All I know is it makes sense because it's what I'd do.

He only played in half their games last season and often out of position. Hopefully they see him as surplus to their needs and buy a couple of flash harrys that will make his route to first team football more congested.
He should be a top Premiership central midfielder, an England regular. He was that before he left us. He doesn't look half the player now so maybe he'll remember what was really good for him and come "home".
Third time's a charm.

As much as i liked Milner (although never saw the idolisation as some did) i feel like my bird has fucked off with a rich playboy only to realise that the novelty soon wore off when the rich fella had many other suitors and lovelies and now feels stupid and wants to come back

Would not want us to see us spunk good transfer cash on him - if we can pick him up for a years loan then fine - and then he would have to prove himself all again

Well, could we buy a more effective player for us for £20m? I doubt it.
Therefore I think we should get him at any (reasonable) cost.
There is a big Milner sized hole in our team.

I dont idolise him and he's naughty for wanting pastures new when we were starting to build something, even if I could understand him getting frustrated wth MON's football style and despairing of ever playing the kind of football he probably wants. But he's still the man for the job and that's most important. He left on good terms I believe. He never mugged us off and left anything in the tank. I think the fans did and would love him again.
It would be the parable of the prodigal Milner.

However, I keep imagining things from his point of view and trying to imagine him wanting to work with McLeish.
Then I have problems.
But I suppose you never know.

I read that Foster had a clause in his contract that said if they were relegated he could leave for £9m, if that is true lets just offer £9m they can't turn it down!

If not lets get ruffler it might ruffle a few feathers (sorry someone had to do it!)

Milner left to win things.  He now has a nice FA cup winners medal, so time to do something really deserving.  Fire us up the league, help develop a great youth potential, and come back to being our god.  He knows it makes sense.  Young will be clamouring to be back at Christmas....

It would be great , If he kept giving us phone calls when he spotted a player abroad...  like a silent scout ...

Didn't Macallister say we were way down the road regarding some new players coming into the club?  That being the case this Ruffier must have been on our radar for some time once we knew Friedel would be off.

Now, where did I put that Milner T shirt I've worn just the once?

Swooping for N'Zogbia and Foster would certainly lift the gloom after the depature of Young and imminent departure of Downing.

Not sure how true that Ruffian rumour is though.

I think Miner is in a similar situation to the one Scott Parker was in at Chelsea a few years back. He needs to move to kick start his career again, especially as its the euros at the end of the season.

I'd love him back as we've missed his drive and quality, can't see him taking a big pay cut and us having the funds though.
