Well, he hadn't suffered a broken leg, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
Downing is worth at least £20m in today's "Alice in Wonderland" Premiership world. He was consistently Boro's player of the season, as he was ours last season, and makes a large contribution to the attacking moves of his team. Yes, he's not v tenacious in the tackle as AY was, but that's not why we bought him.
He'll be missed, and I hope the bin-dippers are forced to pay out to the max.

I have no problem with getting rid of Downing, I have never been his biggest fan and think he is a wuss.
If we got near £20m for him them it seems a good price, BUT, if Downing is worth around this figure, how much would we need to pay for a good player ?
Prices have gone fucking stupid, so if Dowing is £20m then N'Zogbia for instance must be £25m ?

Now, we all know N'Zogbia is not worth that, but my point is, even if you sell for silly money, you then have to spend sillier money to get the same or better.

Especially if you are only looking at the domestic market. Most of the names touted so far look suspiciously like MON is still overseeing our transfer policy.

If he does go, which I'm not convinced he will, it'll be £20m+ and a good price for him as a player, but a big blow for us as a team to lose him and Ash in the same window.

Hasn't Nzogbia only got a year left on his contract ? I don't think Wigan would expect more than 12 million if this is the case.
