Prefer JJs team tbh, no disrespect Beds.

A midfield of Makoun, Delph and Milner would have everything for me.Signing that young French player Capote?, would add to it as well, and bringing Bannan into it occasionally as well as Gardener.

The guy who Bedsv pointed out as well looks worth a look at, would definately sign N'zogbia with or without Downing.

Albrighton has fantastic crossing ability, needs to toughen up a bit though.

For once a positive s transfer story in the Mirror for us. Let's hope there is some truth in it.

It's unlikely, it is the Mirror after all. Shame really, we've missed him badly.

The mirror aren't completely inaccurate to be fair.

True. They were the first that mentioned McLeish as possible Aston Villa manager.

That wouldn't have been knowledge though, that was just one wild stab in the dark which happened to come to pass.

You could say that about every gossip column and website across the globe.

Very true, though of the mainstream British papers the Mirror does seem to be the most consistently, shall we say, creative.

I could see:

                       Robinson

Lichaj        Collins       Clark      Warnock

                    NRC    Delph

   Albrighton       Milner      N'Zogbia

                          Bent

What a horrible looking team that is.  That has relegation written all over it.

Poor side.  Luke Young IS a right back too.  He fills in at left back, but is actually a right back.  Thanks goodness you're not our Manager.

If Dicky Dunne plays like he did for most of last season, he's a liability. We ain't gonna get Milner, as much as I'd love to have him back (we've missed him more than we will ever miss Ash or Downing) and at this rate N'Zogbia's never gonna leave cosy Wigan for a team that hasn't really expressed a great deal of intent on being ambitious or better than where he already is. He may well be waiting for an approach from a "big" club.
I just hope I'm wrong on all counts, but we need to show our hand soon!

The prospect of Milner feeding bent is hugely exciting, I would certainly sacrifice downing if it meant getting Milner back.

I really cannot understand this Milner love in. He left for money. He doesn't give a fuck about us. Barry and Young gave us more than five minutes good form before leaving and they get stick rather than nauseating 'please come back' bullshit.

Moving aside from this. If we don't have that much money (which all signs point to) then the money could be much better spent. We have very little need for a forward thinking midfielder and signing another one will provide fewer opportunities for the promising young ones we have like Bannan, Delph and Gary Gardner coming through. Our need for defenders, wingers and perhaps a defensive midfielder is much greater than Milner.

I'd be quite disappointed if we resigned him.

I would like to draw your attention to exhibit A: Aston Villa in 2010-11 after the opening game of the season.

Ireland would be better at feeding Bent if we can get the best out of him. Milner's game is more rounded but he's no great shake at picking defence-splitting passes.
