A lot of talk on Twitter that we are in talks with Given.

I'd be happy with Shay in goal. Quality keeper. Importantly he's very consistent. I'd rather get him cheap, than pay out a lot of our supposedly restricted budget, on Ben Foster.

I'd be delighted with shay given as long as his shoulder is ok now.

Where's the talk about the bent money coming from? Or is it all just hearsay?

we help him with his broken leg he gives us one good season the wants to move on what a Wan***

Times of the modern day footballer ...

Yeah, but even by modern day footballers standards the man is a complete fucking arsehole. He owes us at least another season, 2 really. Should pay his dues before jumping ship, at least Yorke, Southgate, Barry and Young did that.

Given i'd be happy with, and i'll be ecstatic if Gardner goes to Sunderland.

It's hearsay. I guess we will know more about spending and the direction of the club by the end of August.

Given? No thanks. Old, injury prone and a big earner. Brad was a good signing as an old keeper due to his excellent injury record. I also think he is a much better keeper than Given.

Are people now honestly moaning about us signing Shay Given? Jesus Christ! This is a man who was voted the best keeper of the naughties, Mancini called him one of the top 5 in the world and has always been consistent. He was injured last year, but his injury record before that was very good. I honestly think in some peoples eyes the club can do no good at the minute.

Was'nt he on the bench all last season?

From back in February -

Quote
There are some unconfirmed reports that Shay Given will be forced to retire from football after a recurrence of a shoulder injury that dates back several years.

Given is due to see a specialist with the expectation of a third operation being required to permanently cure the persistent dislocations that the Irish shot-stopper has be plagued by.

There is a feeling, however, that the operation to cure the dislocation problem may well also limit the mobility in the joint, and mean that Given may have no option but to retire.

The innocuous knock that led to the most recent shoulder problem is also a concern as the joint was apparently under no major stress at the time of it dislocating.

However there is also some hope that with only limited restriction to the joint Given could easily continue to perform at the highest level. Given's hopes of a move to another club now seem out of the question with no club likely to take such a major risk on his future fitness.

But for Manchester City fans this could be better news. If the operation is successful enough to allow him to continue playing it would likely mean he remains at City as back-up to Joe Hart.

He missed the last 3 months of the season due to this injury, and by the looks of it it's not the first time his shoulder has played up. Half decent keeper, but with this injury backlog I'd avoid.

Has to be Foster for me.

Hopefully we might see some movement in the next couple of weeks.

McGregor every day of the week for me. Foster has had one good season and would cost twice as much as McGregor. (Who in my opinion is just as good as Foster).

Everytime I think about a Scottish keeper I get cold shivers of Alan rough- not sure on mcgregor though as Scottish football is hardly the same level.

McGregor is a brilliant keeper with some of the best reflex saves I've seen. I genuinly believe he was the most instrumental player in scotland, a lot of Rangers success is down to him
But Rangers have already said he's not for sale. I think its gunna be Foster

Dean Gordon came down with a massive reputation and an even bigger price tag and he did'nt exactly pull up any trees. Given or Foster for me.
