Aren't they both more comfortable on the left of the Centre Half partnership though?

Am I the only person who thinks we won't sign anyone decent this summer?

BTW since your here mate and guessing your a Scotland fan, what you reckon of our super Barry Banann? Got what it take to be your best midfielder in years to come in your opinion? Reason I ask is a lot of folk want Charlie Adam here with strong rumours he's on McLeish's radar but I dont think we need him as IMO Banann can go on to be a far superior player.
I'm not Scottish, I'm Irish. But since you asked, I'm not too sure on either. Bannan showed glimpses of absolute quality, but also went missing too often for my liking. He's getting close to the point of not return, and if he doesn't have a big season this year, I fear it may be curtains.

I'm really not sure about Adam either, he seems a bit too much of a luxury player for us.

Where can you go after appointing the Blues manager? You can bring in Mugabe - Clicky ;-)

Yes but he's (Dunne) not left footed is he ? If he wont/cant play on the right side to accomodate C.Clark then sod him off lol. As long as we dont see Collins n Dunne back together again.

If you're looking for decent midfielder Kayal from Celtic is worth a punt, sooner go for him than bring Reo Coker back or Charlie Adam in for that matter.

will Barry Bannan be available for loan again or given the chance to establish himself in first team ?

You're not the only one.  Having heard this stuff about using the youth a lot more, I cant see us spending big this transfer window.  I can also see Darren Bent being sold next summer as he will probably want out.  Another season of disappointed lies ahead I think.

Mcleish has a history of having a good first season in new job with us he won the treble in first full season whilst making cut backs to squad,

I'm inclined to fear his second season in charge just hoping he brings in some quality additions this summer

Why does it look like we seem to be losing players with none coming in the other way or even any talk of bids being lodged?  I know its still early days but it appears we want to get rid of players first then go out and buy players when it could be too late.
When does preseason start again as I guess he wants to asses the squad before making any signings?

Can't see him being a regular just yet.
A spell for your club would be a good move all round.

Departing players will be replaced, otherwise we will sit tight I reckon.  So far Friedel and almost certainly Young have left, so replacements will come in, NRC will be resigned or a Bradley type replacement will come in, with Walker leaving we will probably sign a full back but that will be about it I reckon.  If we can get buyers for Warnock, Beye, Ireland, Heskey and one of Cuellar/Dunne/Collins then we may be able to afford 1 or 2 further decent players, otherwise those guys will be part of the squad and I can see Warnock, Ireland and the 3 centre halves playing their part next year.

Bloody hell. It's June 23rd. The transfer window hasn't opened yet officially. The manager hasn't even met most of his players to assess where he needs to trim and strengthen. He has an idea of what he has to spend, but that can change massively if we sell one two players. The board have always backed the manager with a lot of money, and the club will know they need to reinforce to remain competitive. They are used to competiting in the top 6. I don't think for minute that objective has changed. Stay patient man.

A THIRD loan move for Bannan would achieve nothing whatsover.

Bannan spent a year at Derby/Blackpool followed by the spell at leeds when he hardly played.

So how is further loan going to help him?

If anything, he should be loaned to a Premiership club as thats where we want him to apply his trade for us.  I'd rather him be loaned to a Prem club for a team who will play him week in week out than be a bit part player at villa.  the championship is not ideal for his development anymore, it now needs to be in the prem to see if he really is cut out for it.
