Daily Mail are saying £15m for Young, to be fair we'd be swimming the channel to get £20m for a lad in the last year of his contract.

Is it true that Sturridge was a Aston Villa fan as a child?

Yes he one of ours. Born in Birmingham (Nechells ;))

40M warchest my arse. It'll be the young money, anything else we can raise from sales and about 10m on top if we're lucky but a net 40m spend? Bonkers.

Yes but if he had any  love  for us, as he professes, he would have signed a contract and still gone thus making money for himself and us.
Just like them all a selfish git.

Was it his dad or uncle that played for that lot down the road?

@Risso; They're quite happy with selling O'Hara who's done well whilst on-loan.

If they don't play Walker he'll not bother extending his contract just letting it run down and they'll miss out on making some tidy profit on him.

  They have 3 other RBs though, and as Levy has said that they will sell their fringe players, and as the Modric affair will get messy, it might be the time to jump in.

  Would'nt be adverse to having Naughton inplace of though.

Sign a contract he's not going to honour and get a £0.5m signing on fee from Utd or go now and get a £2m signing on fee. Not many that would do the former. I've enjoyed watching him over the years but, like Barry, I feel a parting of the ways is best for both parties.

Or... plan B, go for Hutton?

It'd be interesting if they would turn down good bids for their back-up right-backs.

   His dad was Michael Sturridge, who i used to play against as a kid, in the same team as Frankie Bunn.He went to Bloose and was released by Ron Saunders.I think he was a Villa fan at that time, and certainly a much better footballer than Frankie Bunn, who went on to bigger and brighter things.

 Yeah if we said £10m for Walker or £5m for Hutton it sure would be interesting to see which one they'd prefer to let go. Cant believe how many good fullbacks they have with Corluka, Naughton and even Bassong who can play there! They're right tossers to deal with though and Im sure they'd prob ask for £10m for Hutton and £20m for Walker.

It was Simon Sturridge I was thinking of, I take it they are not related then.
