He might have a relegation release clause in his contract anyway. So might Dann for that matter. If you're smart, in fact even if you're mildly retarded, you dont sign for the Blues without some sort of escape plan.

The same could be said for McLeish himself who may have some sort of "relegation" clause which has enabled us to speak to him so quick.  Sorry I know this is the transfer thread.

Definitely. A relegated club can't demand £20m for two players. Dann cost them barely anything, remember.

 Im not sure he'd go for ANY blues players tbh guys. We need a GK - how about McGregor from Rangers we were linked to? Probably cost half of what Foster would and Im sure would want to play for McLeish. Dont think any new CB's will be coming. We now have a manager famed for his defence capabilities who will get to work with the likes of a former Rangers man in Cuellar aswell as improving the likes of C. Clark and N. Baker. This aswell as the 1st team pairing of Collins & Dunne.

  It's clear attacking fullbacks are important in todays game and something we should definately be looking for. N.Clyne or K.Naughton at RB? So Get rid of Warnock, Beye and possibly Dunne and bring in McGregor for GK (£5m) N.Clyne (£2-3m ish?) and another attacking LB and we would have a decent defence again. I think 1 of the reasons Lerner & co were interested in McLeish is because he could make our defence solid again without splashing loads of cash on it. If he did have to spend money on it he could look to the lower leagues (Dann & Johnson).

 So if we could spend roughly £15m on 1 GK and 2 FB's and recoup money on Beye, Warnock and Possibly Dunne we would have a lot of money to improve our midfield and get a replacement for A.Young.

So that's most our bases covered  spending pretty much what we've let go. Tried to be as realistic as possible with prices although it is all guesswork! That would leave money for a possible replacement for Dunne, a top quality strong defence minded centre mid and a young potential striker. As tbh as much as I want Delfouneso to work out atm I just cant see it.

I never understand points like this. Why would he want to play for McLeish any more than another manager?

If I'm offered a new job half way across the country I dont base my decision on whether the manager is from the same city as me.
