Henderson is promising, not much more. Twenty....fucking....million....pounds?
If they do come for Downing £25m is the starting figure. In fact, fuck off should be the starting figure but we all know how it goes down now.
I honestly don't believe the club will sell SD now - he has 2 years left on his contract and I imagine the club will wait until the new manager is in. Might then be sold in January 2012 if the price is right and the lad still wants out.

I agree. Unless its a really daft offer and he's not that good to disregard anything. But I dont see that offer coming this summer.

The financial regulations actually start from january as I understand it but won't actually mean anything until Jan 2014 when the finances are reviewed.  At that point any club that is consistently reporting a trading loss will be sanctioned, spending big in 1 window in 3-4 will be fine but we probably won't see clubs spending huge sums repeatedly any more.

And yet where is the press talk of mad overpaying for Henderson that we saw when we bought Bent?

That's a very good point.

Yes, as ever Paulie. I was thinking exactly the same listening to that thick scouse dumpling Micky Quinn on Talkawholelottashite this morning eulogising this lad who he has probably never even seen play

Paul Hayward and F365 have shown surprise at the figures being mentioned.

With both Barry and now Young Randy has shown he's prepared to let them get to the last 12-months, but no further.  I can see the same with Downing and we'll have at least another year of him.

let say Randy will give manager 25 millions pounds plus 32 millions from Young & Downing plus say 10 millions on selling 3 players. That could be a nice transfer kitty for manager to spend if he decided to buy oversea.

I see Sunderland are itching to divest themselves of the cash they've managed to hoodwink liverpool out of by bringing in three of the worst man united players on their books (o'shea, gibson and brown).  I wouldn't touch any of them with a barge pole.

As I said, get your money on Sunderland to be relegated next season. Reckon you will get decent odds at this stage of proceedings

What about this lad? He was very highly rated before he left for Madrid.

Can't believe that fee for Henderson, or the figures being quoted for the players the Red Scouse are reported to be after. It sounds like Fenway are the post-Millennial equivalent of Brewster's Millions.

If Benitez comes in then could be a possibility.  Decent player from what i've seen of him.

J-Aurther Samuel is a free agent, might be an improvement on Warnock anyway.

If Henderson s in the £20 m bracket. Surely we should be asking for £25m for Young with a year left on his contract and an established England player ?

More justification to keep investing in our youth system.
1.  We don't have to spend these sort of stupid numbers
2.  If any of our yoof make it they can be sold for similar amounts of money

Not just that but as young promising players surely Albrighton is worth similar, Clark £15m? Bannan £10m?

It is crazy times...

That is good idea to go for him. We need to bring in promising and hungry up and coming players. I don't think Rafa have to worry about changing youth system as we got a very good system already. He might be able to introduce more ideas but I am sure Gerard would cover this idea already.
