Wigan have bid 3 million for Boltons keeper Ali Al - Habsi.
Good keeper but Robinson and Foster would be better for the Villa.

Would prefer any of those 3 to Green

But why on earth would we make that decision when there is no manager in place.  Unless there is one and he has rubber stamped it behind the scenes.

As I said on the other thread maybe we had to sign him permanently now as part of the loan deal. Perhaps GH had gone over budget with Bent and Makoun so agreed for the Bradley deal to be finalised in the summer?

If Bolton accept 3 million, manager or not we should match it for Al Habsi. Excellent keeper and bargain price.

We're fans. We dont care. Buying players is exciting to us and we reserve the right to complain about the decision afterwards.

We are favourite for Ben Foster in the Daily express today. Around 8million.

From BBC gossip page:-

Liverpool are lining up Wigan winger Charles N'Zogbia, as they fear they have lost out to Manchester United for Aston Villa's Ashley Young.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Slightly worrying if true as they would look a better bet than us right now.

Fuck off Liverpool!

Not only are they going after our players, they're also going after our transfer targets.

Al Habsi is inconsistency personified. He's had one good season now. Shouldn't be our number one target.

Give them Downing so they leave him alone

That would meaning losing Downing and Ash in the same summer, which would be a disaster.

One problem we have is that both our current first choice wingers prefer the left, so Ash going and N'Zogbia coming in gives us greater balance.

Is the right answer. Anyone can see that 3 million for Al Habsi is a bargain. He and a free like Westwood would have us well covered next season on a budget, which would be good when you look at how much surgery we need at the moment!

So we could sit and watch all the decent players who are available sign for othe PL clubs, or we could decide to sign Foster or the like and give our next manager 1 less headache.

I see no problem signing a goalkeeper without a manager(especially someone like Foster). It's not like you have to fit them into a system.

Well it would be a problem if the new manager doesn't rate Foster.  Or Green.  Or whoever.

There are a few keepers around who we could go for; I don't see them all being snapped up in the next couple of weeks, by which time I expect that we'll have appointed someone.  Obviously if the gap goes on much longer than that we'll need to start thinking about signing a keeper but I don't see that happening.  The board know the sooner the better.
