Here we are having a discussion about Scott Parker and Greg brings up MON twice in the space of 10 minutes.

So sad, yet so predictable.

Didn't we spend a big fee for the day on a 30 year old Andy Townsend and get three very good seasons and about a third of the fee back?

only because this "who?" question was thrown at us all the time during his reign because we were looking in such a small area (ie england or scotland). If he's seriously saying there is no-one in our price range at home or abroad who's 26-28, and who could do a job as good as parker then fair enough. Frankly i didn't realise Parker was in the top 10 of the world's greatest midfielders

Perhaps we could do a deal with Man U, they want Young, perhaps we could bring in Carrick and also add Parker, gives us a great bed rock in midfield, Carrick has the ability to defend and support defenders, Parker can push forward as the link to attack, as indeed so can Carrick.

I think Parker would be a good fit in a midfield three with maybe Makoun and Delph but £10m is a lot to pay for him bearing in mind his age. I'd rather see us spend a chunk of that on Walker.

God no, Carrick is very average. A terrible idea.

You really do come out with some shite when you're under pressure.

Parker isn't in the " top 10 of the world's greatest midfielders" but then that isn't the market we're shopping in, is it.

He's the type of player we need and as you are unable to offer a better alternative I'll stick with wanting him.

Carrick is slightly out of his depth at Man U, always has been, could be a different proposition at Villa, fact is if Carrick was put up for sale by Man U, which i doubt, you would see only the top clubs come in for him.

He was a very decent player and could be again, still an England player, you maybe right its been sometime since he was a real force in the game so it maybe beyond him now, doubt it though.

I can think of few worse ideas than putting Carrick in our midfield.

That was a pretty quick 180 degree turn on Carrick then.

What a giraffe !!!

people think Carrick isn't good enough for the Villa  :)

150 appearances for Man U in 5 years - so, give or take 30 games a year in the best team in the country !, possibly in Europe but he is "out of his depth"

you lot for real or what !!!

Now he is 30 - so if that arguament was brought up, fair enough, but saying he isn't good enough , or "average" is absolutely stupid !

I tell you another that for totally nothing, could be a great signing - Hargreaves !

We all know about his injuries, but if you could get that one season of fairly reliability - you have the best player in that position in Europe.

In fact, Carrick, hargeaves and Owen - I'd take tomorrow !

better than Salifou, Osbourne and Gabby !

(oh , and I think Owen could be the perfect partner for Bent - Bent drifts to the far post , Owen gambles at near, Bent drifts , Owen stays, bent is aweful on one on ones, Owen is class.

With Bent getting 20 goals (hopefully) , Owen would have that pressure took off him , and would easily get 10 or more - in fact, he may have done this year already and he has hardly played.
