Hope we steer well clear of Parker. Good player but 8-10m for someone who'll be worthless in 3 years seems very short-term thinking.

When did football fans become accountants?

Think he'll go to Spurs but he's just what we need and I'm far more interested in what he does on the pitch than how he looks on the balance sheet.

Even you must realise that you can't really build a team round a player who will be well past his best in 3 years time and we'll have to go out again and spend another 10m on a replacement. We're not Citeh you know...

well thats it really. but then chris was a big fan of MON's "live today, out of control wage budget tomorrow" transfer philosophy.

As I said, accountancy.

He's a good player who does a job that we need doing. You can't base every signing on resale value, some times you have to have experience too. As I said, I doubt he'd be bothered with us as we've taken a few steps backwards but if he did come I'd be delighted.

I was a big fan of his winning football games, I leave the wage bill bollocks to the business men.

Why is everyone seemingly so certain we're getting Wendt?

I'd take him though, as I would Larsson and Bendtner.

Aswell as N'Zogbia, Samba, Barton, Forfana and Foster.

I'd take Foster (though would prefer Robinson) and maybe Larsson as a squad winger. Fofana is unlikely as he has resigned with Le Havre and considering his injury issue was so severe we didn't want him for next to nothing why would we want to pay more for him now?

The rest I wouldn't have in a gift. N'Zogbia and Samba are overrated, probably expensive and both seem to have attitude problems. Look at how often both have reitterated their desire to leave their present clubs. There is a reason the pair of them are at bottom half clubs which either seems to be that no bigger club fancies them or their clubs are asking some ridiculous amount.

Hope we steer well clear of Parker. Good player but 8-10m for someone who'll be worthless in 3 years seems very short-term thinking.

I'm with Greg. What on earth is the point of spending £10million and 3 years of £70K a week on someone who probably only has a year left at the highest level. It's the kind of thinking that got Portsmouth where they are.

On the playing side I would rather we spent the money on someone younger with the potential to improve and give us many years of service rather than someone who is inevitably on the way down.

I understand the reservations regarding Parker's age, it does sound a lot of money to  be splashing out on a 30 year old.

I just think it would be better to sign a player who's 26/27 on a 5 year contract who would probably stay if we make the CL rather than someone who's 30 on a 3 year contract who even if we make the CL will need replacing.

Bannan, Gardner, Makoun - we've got plenty of potential, I think we need experience to help bring them through.
