just read on BBC website Joey Barton not wanting to stay on the toon. I would not mind him in our midfield. We either love him or hate him but he could do a job for us. We need to keep Reo Coker because of what he offers us. While he is not a box to box player he has put in some crucial tackles and has lifted a trophy the Peace Cup.

Don't want that arsehole anywhere near our club.  Best thing about this is that they might then see Ireland as a replacement and take him off our hands.

Agree on NRC.

No to Barton.
Have a full read of the below, and ask yourself would you really want someone like that anywhere near our club?

That's a good shout. The only way I'd accept Barton coming to us would be in a straight swap for Ireland. At least we'd have nothing to lose then.

Except our good name when he stubs his cigar out in Gary Gardner's eye.

Joey Barton: let's not do this all over again.

I like Ben Foster - a much better option than Robert Green, but I still think Paul Robinson is the more complete 'keeper, the finished article. Foster's younger and may well get there though. Wouldn't beat him with too hard a stick for giving international football a break - it's a break, he hasn't retired full stop; he's not the first to get disillusioned with playing for England. Don't forget Robinson quitting as he didn't want to settle for being regular back-up and little more than that.

Joey Barton would have to be an absolute world beater for me to even consider wanting him at The Villa. He's not and he's not going to get any better. I like the Diarra shout. He's played in the Premier League, he's top quality and I think he's still early to mid twenties.

A definite no to Joey Barton from me, I don't care how good a footballer he is (and I don't think he's all that brilliant).

Sebastien Bassong, though, would be a good addition, very decent defender and, as said above, has a good turn of pace which our current defenders seem to lack (amongst other things....).

I think everyone's talking about M. Diarra, who is a bit older than Lassana Diarra. He is good though and I reckon would adapt to the Premier League quite easily. He did have a serious injury not all that long ago though so that'd be something for us to think about.

Seamus Coleman signed a new contract with Everton earlier in the season (4 years I think it was).

Not quite villa-related, but amusing all the same.

Although, considering it's Gollivan, it might well be bollocks

Did somebody just mention Darren Bent?

I'd imagine Bruce is trying to get as many players in as possible now to limit the possibility of MON nicking his job.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but if rumours are true and Hitz is available for free we would be absolutely mental not to bring him back.

I agree on Hitz. We need to bolster cheaply in some areas, and Hitz would give us a player with a great left foot who could play well in a central 3. On a free it is not to be sniffed at. If the 4-3-3 is continued, and it could be with any of the managers linked - Moyes, Benitez and Ancelotti have all played it a lot over the last few years, we need 3 central midfielder that compliment each other, ideally with a couple who will get some goals. Assuming Reo Coker stays but Petrov has 12 months left tops, we have got Makoun, Delph, Reo Coker, Petrov, Bannan, Gardner at the moment. Hitz for Bradley essentially would be fine by me.

If we even put in a bid for Barton, my season ticket would go back.
