A poll in The Mail has 31% wanting Given as our next keeper and 29% wanting Foster. I wouldn't mind either, Foster is younger but I hear Given is a good character to have at a club. But why not test out how much Ajax want and how much Stekelenburg fancies playing in The Premier League?

Can't see him leaving a title winning side about to play in the Champions League for us to be honest.

We'd probably double his wages.  That might be a clincher for us!

I think all would be great acquisitions, To be fair, Brad's never been in doubt for me, the defense has let him down this season big time. But time Marches on and in that respect I'd go with Foster, don't let the fact he was the keeper that helped the noses down detract from the fact he is a quality shot stopper.

Whilst Woodgate and Hargreaves might make sense as a no loss situation on a pay as you play contract you have to remember we only have 25 berths in the squad. Considering how many games they will possibly play due to their injury issues it is a waste of two places in a squad.
More importantly, why on earth would either player agree to sign for us on a 'pay-as-you-play' deal? They're both big enough names for someone daft to take a risk on a full contract which it would make far more sense for them to sign.

Hopefully it won't be us taking that risk.

I'm worried about the link with Green. i think we should go out an get Robinson who's had a great season, and is a good age for a keeper. I'd like Samba, but think others might be in for him. Maybe we could get shot of Ireland by involving him in a deal.

I think Johnson at City could be available if and when we lose Young.

Although not because of injuries, I think of Bridge in the same way as Woodgate and Hargreaves, really; all good players not so long ago, and probably worth a risk for someone. I just don't think we should, or need to, take that risk. We can get players at least as good without the worry of wondering if they'll make it through 90 minutes, or if they will ever recapture their best form.

Bloody hell Vinnie, I really hope you're right. I keep hearing Rob Green's name being mentioned with us. For me, Foster is the best around.

What about McGregor?

Foster would probably be cheaper and in my opinion better.  I don't think much of the last Scottish keeper to cross the border to join mr potato head, especially at those sort of prices.

Out of the keepers available I'd like to have Foster. If we can't have him then we should get Foster.

At first I wanted Given, but then realised he's in his mid 30's.
