Quite a few people are saying Enrique from Newcastle and he has gave the single worst performance at VP this season imo.

At least two of our players seem not to share your opinion of José Enrique Sánchez Díaz:

To date, who is the best defender you've played against?

Thursday May 12, 2011 13:16 Gavin
13:16  Marc Albrighton: Enrique who plays for Newcastle. He is an all-round great footballer. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the big clubs come in for him.

Probably because they have been tipped the wink that he is B6 bound. ;)

Some people seem to forget that we are no longer operating under the restrictions of having MoN in charge. We are not doomed to sign overrated, overpriced PL based players any more.

Enrique is solid, pacey, and good on the ball. I would only put Cashley ahead of him in the league. If we could get him it would be fantastic, but I agree, he would be pricey, and perhaps with a bit of decent scouting we could get an untried player cheaper.

Id love to see a back line of

Robinson
Onouha Hangeland Cuellar Enrique

Be a great back 5 in theory.

Id like to see:

Left wing: Nzogbia or a cheaper option Joe Cole replace Ash.

Striker: Doyle replace Heskey, now that we have a proper striker Someone like Doyle would be a great compliment.

Central midfield: Scott Parker replace Petrov

Right back: Walker or Hutton replace Habib Beye

Goalkeeper: Given replace Friedel

Would love to see that happen. He gets a bit of stick on here, but his support play is top class, and I think he'd be perfect alongside Bent.

Jury is most definitely out with regards to Given though. We need someone to organise the defense, and he's not the one to do it.

No to Cole for me as well.

Whenever Ive seen Doyle play he has always played well and puts himself about, most critics say he doesnt score enough but with Bent in the team he wouldn't have too.
yeah I see where your coming from with Given and Cole maybe Robinson instead, Cole was a kind of a cheaper alternate to Nzogbia really who id prefer.

He's probably already been mentioned but  regarding the whole DM/NRC/Petrov replacement I'd love to see us try and sign Tiote from Newcastle.  IMO he gives you everything good in NRC's game with the added bonus of being half decent at football.

He'd probably be quite pricey, though, as I can imagine some big teams sniffing around him and I think he's on a long contract.

I think Tiote could be off somewhere bigger, Chelsea?

He signed a six year contract at Newcastle not long ago.

6 years?  may be a bit difficult to tempt them in to a sale, as they're flush with the Carroll money.

Baines?

I'd like us to try and get Gibbs from Arsenal, this maybe more difficult as the rumour is they will get rid of Cliche but he cannot sit on the bench forever if Cliche stays.

Although fleet-footed, Cliche leaves holes in the defence big enough to drive a lorry through. It'll open up a can of worms if he leaves, but maybe he'll silence his critics if he stays.

With regard to Tiote, was he a signing by our ex head scout, the guy that left us to be Charlton's DoF?

We really do need to get such a man at the club as we never seem to pick up such players.  The last two I can think of are probably Delaney and Yorke and in both instances I think they were discovered because the manager spotted them in matches against Villa.

I'd be happy with Baines, or Gibbs, or even Olssen at Blackburn, but none are better than Enrique. He is the finished article and just entering his prime, hence the price tag.

Being linked with N'Zogbia in the press today.

I'd be very happy if we got him.

funny reading the comments about Doyle. When we were linked with him under MON there were people running baths and reaching for toasters. He's proved himself to be a very competent, hard working player indeed at PL level. I think he'd be great playing just off Bent in a Teddy Sheringham/Beardsley/Nolan kind of role doing a lot of the dogs work behind the primary forward.

Yeah, but I think he's really shown what he can give to a side at Wolves.  Personally I don't think we should go for him, but a decent player nonetheless.
