For a direct wide player replacement for AY I'm still in the N'Zogbia, Dempsey camp.

I like both players, but even though I've watched Dempsey a few times, I wasn't aware he was a winger.  I thought he played in behind the striker.  I may well be wrong though!

how can we be linked with players when our mananger is ill, and we dont even know for sure who are manager will be next season ?
According to McAllister, GED is well enough to do office based work so Im sure that means working on targets for next season

but most people dont think Houllier will carry on after this scare
so  if true he wont be given any money to get his targets in only to hand them over to the new man

Agreed. It's all just a waste of time and effort at the moment.

If Ged is working on future signings, wouldn't that be an indication that he plans on staying at Villa (either as manager or DoF)?

Either that or he is just preparing some sort of handover notes for the incoming manager.

Didn't he recommend a couple of signings for Moyes, for example?

There was a stateement from G'Mac the other week that they had aleady outlined players in/out for the summer.  I'm suprised none of you remember as you were using it as a stick to beat the management about making players feel demotivated/unwanted.  I thought that it made a nice change to actually make plans to prepare for next season while this one was still in progress, it showed some forward thinking.

I remember it, and I remember saying much the same at the time.

Wouldn't be nice to see a new manager to come in without all the deadwood or high earners and lot of new signings and Darren Bent in the team. The expectation won't be too hard as we know it will take time for all the team to gel.

No way should we pay anything more than 5m for Onouha. He is too short for centre half. He does have good pace but Walker has more potential as a right back.

Who is going to buy Beye, Warnock, Ireland, Heskey and Petrov? Definitely one of Collins or Dunne needs to go too. Don't think Dunne's performances on the pitch have been as bad as some here have made out once he got back in the side. But even if he came back properly fit and motivated how many years has he got left in him at the top level? Collins has been worse this season, he was like a headless chicken at times again on Sunday. He is younger than Dunne but can't help this seasons form is more his true worth than when he played well the season before. Not sure what we will do with Cuellar either. He isn't the prophet some here are making out. He was poor against Wolves at home recently when given a chance.

That is not a bad list at all - most of those outs are likely IMO, or should be; some decent players coming in.

And he's spot on.

No, he's changing the subject, as he often does, as we were talking about whether MON could or would have gotten more out of Bentley had he moved here.  So the reply to my specifically talking about the development of Milner, Ash and Gabby is 'John Gregory MKII'.

Hang on, you were the one that went from claiming MON's regime was like Stalag 9 and suddenly changed tack to stating he got results which has no bearing on whether it was strict or not frankly.

Try reading the post again.  The 'results' I was referring to where the progress made by Gabby, Ash and Milner as footballers under him.

Some good ones in there, but I'm not impressed by Charlie Adam and we'd still need a natural holding player for midfield.

Totally agree with your predicted outs though!
