Now that's the way to do transfer dealings; free transfers, before the close season has even started. From the guardian:

MILAN, May 9 (Reuters) - New Serie A champions AC Milan will sign defenders Taye Taiwo from Olympique Marseille and Philippe Mexes from AS Roma on free transfers, coach Massimiliano Allegri said on Monday.
"In defence, Milan are sorted. We have taken Mexes and Taiwo," Allegri told a news conference on the eve of their Italian Cup semi-final second leg at Palermo.
Nigerian left back Taiwo, who the Rossoneri are trying to sign as an EU player if he can gain a relevant passport, will fill the only troublesome spot in Milan's line-up this term.
The 26-year-old has been with the French champions since 2005.
France centre back Mexes, out with a cruciate ligament injury, said last month that he would probably be joining Milan in the close season after seven years in the Italian capital.
Milan's ageing squad is in need of renewal despite their scudetto triumph and a possible first league and cup double.
Several players including out of favour midfielder Andrea Pirlo are out of contract in the close season and others are in their mid-30s.
"When the season is over we will talk with the club," Allegri said of Pirlo's situation while responding to questions about media speculation linking Milan with former playmaker Kaka -- now at Real Madrid -- and Santos's Brazilian youngster Ganso.
"The first has won everything in his career and the second must still learn a lot," Allegri said.
Owner Silvio Berlusconi loosened the purse strings this term to bring in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic having previously reined in spending during the global economic crisis and watched Inter win five straight scudettos.
However, the two free transfer deals show the Italian prime minister is still keen on a bargain when he sees one.

They've both signed for the new champions of Italy playing CL football at one of Europe's biggest clubs. As much as I would have loved both or just one, it's completely unrealistic to think we could have got either given the wealth of their options coupled with our current predicament.

I think in the summer we will only buy under 25s, and the only over 25s we will get are freebies.

Like JJ, i would start again.I watched an average Lplop last night, and was embarrassed about our performance on sat.No movement, no passion, no professionalism, no pride.Sats performance was the most insipid, spiritless, depressing performance i think i have ever seen at VP.

Get rid and start again. As long as Dunne, Collins, Petrov, NRC, and yes LYoung go, i dodn't care who we get.You cannot play pass and move with those players.Clark needs to play, as does Makoun, keep Walker, and Bent, and if poss Downing , and buy players to complement them.

  Goalie.......Wigans goalie
LB......don't know yet, but Taiwo would have been brilliant.
  CB......Samba or Huth.
DCM.......the guy Beds Villain highlighted, young French guy, sorry don't know his name, Forfan or Vaughan.
  CM....McCarthy, Milner, Dempsey, Dorrans
  Winger......N'Zogbia, Lee, Jarvis
Striker.....sorry a cheap DJ Campbell, more Prem goals than Drogba this season, Sturridge.

Thats the kind of targets i hope we have.

Given at 35 is in his prime and has one good contract left in front of him.

Given has spent most of the last 12 months out injured.

He's damaged goods now I'm afraid.

I'd be very happy if we signed Paul Robinson.

Not a Given fan I'm afraid.

Moyes and Baines in a double swoop of Everton would be fine with me. I wouldn't take anyone else from there.

I think you're getting ahead of yourself there mate! Still don't see why moyes would come. Baines has been sensational this year and could go to arse or citeh or Liverpool. And are you saying jagielka, fellaini, rodwell, Cahill wouldn't get into our side?

Jagielka's pretty average. I know so have we been this season at the back, but I hope we sign a better centre-half than him.

Anyway, if we did pinch Moyes, I reckon Everton would go out of their way to avoid selling their players to us.

Can he blame us?  That bloke is the world's greatest ever timewaster.  And he gets away with it every time we play against him.

It would be interesting summer.

I means we could be selling everyone in first 11 apart from Darren Bent.

Friedel - Schkale bound ?
Walker - Back to WHL
Young - QPR ?
Collins - sold to Bolton or whatever.
Dunne - sold to Bolton or whatever.
Young - Big money move to Manure / Liverpool
Downing - Big money move to Liverpool or whatever
Heskey - Leicester City
Petrov - move to MLS or Europe
Reo Coker - move to QPR or europe
Bent - Staying :)

Plus players like Beye, Warnock, Ireland, Cuellar on the way.

We won't recognise the team next season.

I would sign Paul Robinson for goalkeeper.

So if we have say 26 millions for Downing and Young, plus say 15 millions for the rest. The new manager could have 50 millions pounds to spend to buy a new team. (assuming Randy give another 15 millions)

I reckon one of the chuckle brothers will stay at the back. As will Luke Young. Downing won't go I am sure. Nor Petrov this summer I don't think. Maybe 5-6 will come, but I don't think the major surgery we hope and expect will happen.

I think it's certain that Randy will ensure all the so called trouble makers will be got rid of no matter who the manager is. I see from reports that sparky can walk away from Fulham at the end of the season.
