If G Mac takes over, renewing my season ticket's going to be painful

Not half as painful as another season like this one (only slightly worse) and relegation.
If he does, then RL has totally lost the plot.

EXCLUSIVE: Aston Villa beaten to £8m Sahin signing by Real Madrid

By John Edwards Last updated at 7:43 PM on 2nd May 2011

Aston Villa have suffered another setback after losing out to Real Madrid in the race to sign Turkey midfielder Nuri Sahin.

Sportsmail revealed last week how Villa had been alerted to Sahin's likely availability, after he rejected terms for a new contract at Borussia Dortmund, and had enquired about the prospects of luring him to the Barclays Premier League.

But Real have beaten them to the punch after agreeing to meet the release clause in his current contract and receiving word from the 22-year old that he will head for the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Under the terms of his Dortmund agreement, Sahin could join another club in Germany for around £5million but would cost anyone from outside the Bundesliga just over £8m.

Villa still saw that as a bargain for a player rated one of Europe's up-and-coming talents and would have had no hesitation paying it to ward off interest from Liverpool and Chelsea.

But sources close to the newly-crowned Bundesliga champions confirmed to Sportsmail that Real have dashed Villa's hopes by reaching a verbal agreement to add Sahin to Jose Mourinho's squad during the summer.
It is another blow for Villa, who have been rocked by player unrest during a season of struggle and are now facing uncertainty over manager Gerard Houllier's future after his recent heart scare.

Not surprised that a bigger, more attractive club than us was after a player of Sahin's calibre.  I hear we also just missed out on Ozil and Lukaku.

AMALFITANO WAITS ON FUTURE

sportinglife.com

In-demand Lorient playmaker Morgan Amalfitano insists he will not think about his future until the end of the season.

Lorient have been the surprise package this term in France, pushing for an unlikely European place.

The main instigators behind their form has been Amalfitano and striking star Kevin Gameiro.

Both players are now being strongly linked with summer moves.

Paris Saint Germain are reported to have made moves to try and sign both players, but interest from abroad is also very strong.

Both Aston Villa and Sevilla are said to be already in talks about landing Amalfitano, whilst Tottenham, Newcastle, Sunderland and Liverpool are amongst the clubs linked with Gameiro.

But with Lorient pushing for a top-six finish, Amalfitano says finishing as high up the table as possible is his priority.

"We are talking about having six games left now and I hope to get Lorient to the best place possible," he told Ouest France.

Have read that Joe cole & Aquilani may leave in the summer. Joe Cole as our link up? Or is it a natural winger?

Still think Joe Cole could make an excellent attacking midfielder, if he get's his head right.
The talent is there, i'm not sure he's got the desire.

I think Cole is shot, he'd probably break our wage-structure aswell.

Perhaps he'd like a season-long loan at VP then?

It must be getting on for 3 years since he had a good game, plus he's got a freakishly large head.

Could be handy at corners, we've been shit this season at set pieces.

Joe Cole must be up there with the best for wasted talent. Would take him over Pires though!
