Been out injured for so long it may put Liverpool (who wanted him in Jan) and maybe Arsenal off. If they stay up without him, as well as winning the Carling Cup without him it may be less than that. They paid £3.5m, double it and they'll be happy.

Kieran Westwood is considering a new contract offer from Coventry City

He must be raving mad.

I actually really like carrick. I think he'd be a great addition to our midfield with his wide range of passing

GUARDS!!!

LOL! I knew it would raise some eyebrows. But I think he'd work well with the likes of downing and would be great at the final ball through to bent. We just don't have that killer pass from midfield.

Not a chance we'd get him though, just signed a 5 year deal last month and is Man Utd's first choice centre-mid.

That I did not know.

Am I alone in not rating Defoe?

If we were after a Spurs striker I'd hope it was Crouch or Pavluchenko before Defoe though neither would inspire me much.

We have a goal getter, we have a pacy defender terroriser. What we need is a younger version of the physical striker that we will be losing with the departures of Carew and Heskey. I'd second the Kalinic suggestion.

I agree on what we need Bentman but Kalinic isnt and I doubt he ever will be, a goalscorer. And we cant rely on Bent alone. What we need is the crafty number 10 type and a cultured bruiser as options to go with Bent and/or Gabby.

Dempsey and Cahill, are both good shouts to play alongside Bent, but i would prefer someone younger like a Gervinhio kind of player, and i would'nt be disappointed with Kalinic as well.

You could argue that we already have the ideal player to play in that position at the club, Ireland, but we all know his problems.

Regarding Danns, a Bloosse fan i know, who knows what hes talking about, has always told me that Danns is a better defender than Johnson. What i would say is that i think Clark looks a very good prospect as a left sided central defender, and i would be looking for an aggressive, quick right sided central defender to play alongside him, a Samba/Huth kind of player.

AYoung can go to Spuds with my best wishes if we get Walker as part of the deal.Nobody else though from Spuds.

I think Defoe is a very good goalscorer. I'd say he's a better finisher than Bent but less good at making space for himself to score. We don't need both of them. Bent will score sixty next year anyway, we just need to sign 10 goalkeepers to keep the opposition out.

I wouldn't say no to Kyle Naughton the other full back on loan at Leicester.  I think he and Walker would make a good pair of full backs if that is where you are looking for your attacks to come from.  However you would need a couple of solid midfielders to cover them.

What about hangeland?

I'm also getting quite taken with the Dempsey idea though gervinho would be more exciting if young leaves.

I'd take N'zogbia as AY's replacement in a heartbeat.  Maybe look a Rodallega (sp?) too, not massively consistant but still young and has something.

Rodellega for the right money would be good.

I think West Ham, Blackburn and Blackpool will drop although Wigan and Wolves will be close. Doyle alongside Bent would do well. Gets through a lot of donkey work.
