Another summer, another departure of a top player on the cards. Football today is so demoralising. That said, I guess Jarvis would be a decent replacement.

I would take Kalinic, a good player.

He wouldn't really replace Young though - Young plays in that hole (even though he shouldn't) and Jarvis is on the wing.

Of the players familiar to me (and I don't claim to be a expert on any foreign leagues) N'Zogbia seems to be the obvious replacement.

Should we replace Young with Jarvis I see it as him, Downing and Albrighton fighting for the wide spots and Delph/Bannan for the advanced central place.  5 good players for 3 positions would give us good depth and competition.

I suggested the player last summer, and stand by my suggestion - but Sotiris Ninis at Panathinaikos would be my choice.

Only 21, and the bits I've seen of him he looks shit hot. Also a 10m Euro buy out clause in his contract.

With whatever cash we get for Young,i'd like to see us look for a proper no.10 style player to play off Bent,as i think were ok on the wings,as well as going for an up and coming player like Sinclair at Swansea who wouldn't cost that much.

Is that Scott Sinclair?

He seemed to burst on the scene a few years ago and not a lot heard of since.

We've tried that with Young and it's left us too exposed drfensively.  I think an advanced midfielder, as opposed to a forward dropping deep, gives a greater balance between attack and defence.

That having been said, a defensive rebuild and a quality holding player may solve the problem.

Jarvis? A predictable link, but fair enough - he does look very good from what I've seen. Would give us three wingers in the squad next season. I think there are players better suited to that 'No. 10' role than Young, if we can find them. But I'm not sure we necessarily need that kind of player - if we don't go 4-4-2 with Bent plus Gaby/AN Other, I'd like us to go 4-2-3-1, so it's three attack-minded midfielders (Albrighton - new CM - Downing) behind Bent (Gabby back-up in that system) and in front of two centrally-placed midfielders (Makoun + Delph/An Other).

In other news, I think we should put a bid in for this guy. Making friends, as always.

Because i don't think Young understands or is good enough for the role.By no 10 i mean Benayoun type or VDV,someone who can drop deep if we get over run and can play between the lines of the oppositions midfield.  Dont think we need another winger as Young hasn't been one for the past 12 months.

Who know's maybe Delph will fill the role eventually.

I see Benayoun as more of a winger, but a VDV type would be ideal.

When I hear the phrase 'no. 10' I think of a striker who likes to play behind his partner, such and Tevez or Zola, whereas we need more of a Gerrard like player, IMO.

Yep. Or lets just say bollocks to it and play Gary Gardner there.

I think his big brother must have given you one of 'those' stares to be pushing his case so hard, Maz!
