Having said all of that, it's interesting that neither MON nor Hou selected Nige as a must-have midfielder ...
Was the Wolves game the first match NRC failed to start since coming back from injury?

He did start, in fact he was entirely responsible for us losing. *wink*

MON was using NRC at RB a lot having refused to sign a erm RB !!
Quite unfair on young Nigel

You've done it now wiki! The monettes will be out in force after that comment.

Reo- Coker, delph and makoun looks good to me, young bent downing up front please.

Been saying this for weeks, especially away from home.  Everybody (except GH) agrees that Ash is not good enough "in the hole" so he should be playing where he can be most dangerous to the oposition and that is where Capello had him on saturday.  Not out wide hugging the touchline but given a free role to play wide off Bent.  Downing has the ability to do the same and the two of them interchanging with Bent getting in the 6 yard box would give us far more attacking potential.

Back this up with the three midfielders, Makoun sliding the passes through, Delph fetching and carrying and NRC breaking things up and you have a balanced midfield.

So please GH, give it a go.

I think NRC is a great player and have been saying for two years he should be captain.

However, I would not give it him now - how can you give a guy the armband who wont even commit to the club for more than 3 months

In an ideal world, we would be safe and he, plus others that are winding down their contracts (and that includes Young) should be told "sign , or go and play in the reserves, coz if you are not committed to this club, we don't want you !"

Unfort. we are not in an ideal world and need everyone, so we can't do that - but certainly don't make him captain !

NRC has gotta be the player that's divided opinion most since JPA.

Some will tell you he's our best midfielder, some will tell you he's shite. I think he's somewhat in the middle but he should be in our team currently... Not because we need 'bite' for a 'relegation dogfight', just because he's our second best unfortunately.

I like him, but I hope he goes in the Summer unless he seriously reduces his demands (reported demands that is). But I don't blame him for wanting parity with Habib Beye.

Do you really?

I can see how he serves a purpose at times, but "great player"? Really?

Don't think he's our best midfielder, but do see what he brings to the party.

Even Arsenal have players like Eboue, Song and Diaby, for whom technique isn't their most telling attribute by any stretch. It's a team game, every starting XI has room for a different mix of talents.

I did think by this stage that we'd have developed to a point where we might realistically say we need better. But seeing as we're a mid-table>lower half side facing the very real possibility of going down, I'd say he's plenty good enough for us.

that diaby seemingly always has a blinder against us! every other game i see him, he looks dross.

Reo Coker is not a "great" player. He is an ok player. Delph is already better than Reo. He can pass better, go round a player and has more pace. ......

Reo Coker has the stomach for a fight. I am not so sure some of the others are at that point.

For the fight ahead over the next 8 games, we need the likes of NRC on the pitch

The day that NRC stated that he wanted a new contract at 60k a week, was the day that Houllier should have said ... if you can get it elsewhere then go!

If NRC is worth 60k a week then the game has gone mad! and people wonder why fans are becoming so pissed off with the game.

Average at best, watched him against Wolves, Karl Henry totally dominated him and he just wennt missing
