I like how it says Dalglish has fell out with the Greek defender for giving away a clumsly penalty. Blimey , would have to get use of Dunne putting OG's in the net .

THE MOST RIDICULOUS TRANSFER RUMOUR OF THE SEASON

Richard Dunne's recent off-field spat with Aston Villa's coaching staff has made the Republic of Ireland centre-back a target for both Liverpool and Manchester United.
Full story: Metro

I heard my local pub team were after him for the 5 a side team .

To use as the pitch???

give nige a new deal and make him captain , flog petrov for a couple of million and use his wages to pay for niges new deal.
The problem with that plan is that we then have a deeply average player not only permanently in central midfield but also captaining the side.

It's not that bad an idea if he doesn't mind playing in the Championship.

We're going to get more and more of these 'stories' now we're down there in the table I guess.

I am afraid I have to agree with you Dave.   I like almost everything about Nigel Reo-Coker.   I like his spirit, I like his passion, I like his will to win and his toughness.   What is missing is his quality as a player.   Every time I watch him play I will him to have become a cleverer and more skilled player.   I try very hard to see the best in him but he continues to fall short.

When you watch class teams play the passing game they ping the ball about at speed with accuracy and perfectly weighted passes.   When lesser or less experienced players are ordered by their coaches to play the passing game with which they are not familiar their passing is sluggish and safety first which invariably means backwards.

Poor Nigel is one of the least comfortable playing like this.   He has developed a habit he seems unable to correct which is dwelling on the ball.   He either delays or worse still turns on the spot giving the opposing midfielder a sitting target to dispossess.

Such a shame because he has everything else going for him.   He will always be in my private Villa Hall of Fame for actually having a fight with O'Neill.

Yeah.......you watched England/Villa yday, trying to work out why WE are struggling so much, and i came to the conclusion that we miss a Scotty Parker kind of player in midfield.Someone who can play, pass ,tackle, all round player.NRC for all his abilities , is a poor mans Scott Parker, and he only plays for West Ham.

If it is true that GH is after Sissoko, then he apparently seems to be the kind of player we need alongside Makoun/Delph.

Can't see Albrighton being allowed to leave regardless tbh, Ayoung, probably, and Downing possibly.

I think given time Delph could become that play BLF.

Anyway, today's bollocks, I mean gossip, on BBC -

Marc Albrighton to Liverpool.

We're fighting West Ham for Joe Cole.

It's a no from me on both.

I'm a big fan of Delph VS, but i would  worry about the lack of height in the midfield tbh.

I am a big fan of Joe Cole as well, but i think that time has passed, and not sure where you would play him tbh.

It doesn't matter where and how well he plays between now and the end of the season. he's off. His 'I will not discuss a contract until ...' was being trotted out last season, and has nothing to do with our current plight. I took it to mean that he wanted out, but saw no point in burning his bridges too early.

For once I was glad to see a Villa player getting the headlines playing for England. He's on his way and anything that may push his price up is welcome.

In the meantime, stick him out on the left. Albrighton on the right for me.

Provided we get a good deal, I won't be all that sorry to see him go. I've no doubt he'll do the biz for his new team, but Villa saw the best of him two years ago and I can't see that changing.

why would he have to be captain of the side? do you seriously think petrov is a better long term option than reo-coker ? i would keep nige but that doesnt mean by any means he would be a regular or captain , but a useful squad player and an upgrade on petrov who quite frankly has done little for a long time.

i think until we know our situation at the end of the season its hard to know what players we will be looking at.,a new man may come in and keep warnock, ireland , dunne etc.
