After last weekend and all the press reports about Cahill wanting to get one over the Villa, I seemed to get the impression that he doesn't want to come back here. If it would take 20 million I would leave it and go for a decent scandanavian defender, there has to be one out there.

If I remember rightly at the time that story came from someone's blog and a "photocopy of players wages". With no actual source. As such it was soon discovered to be a load of bollocks. Especially when Tottenham, as a PLC, released their wage bill for that season. (Cue Villadawg...)

When he had his little rant on Twitter this was widely reported -

A club spokesman confirmed they will deal with it as "an internal matter" which usually means a fine of two weeks' wages, which in Bent's case would amount to around £100,000 although the club will not jeopardise the deal.

Now by my calculations, if he was being paid £86.5k a week, multiplying that by two does not equal "around £100,000".

Seriously CI - you are just making most of these figures up as you go along.
