I totally agree, but I think it's quite obvious he is one of the top earners, we will never know exactly how much.

It wouldn't surprise me if he is one of the higher earners at Villa, but I don't think it's as much as £60k/wk - I think it's just Ashley and Heskey that are on that amount.

I reckon we could get Cahill back. I think he'd come because (like Bent) he'd see us as a better chance of giving him regular international football and there probably won't be any better offers available. Also, we've 15% sell on clause of over £5m don't we?

Surely we could work something out with that, and potentially any money they still owe on Zat. As well as having a plethora of centre halves they could choose from for a potential swap deal...

Not sure Cahill is the answer as I think Clark needs a more commanding CD alongside him (plus our midfielders are also on the small side).

JJ-AV: you make some very good points there. It would be a very 'Arry-esque bit of transfer dealing. But with Ireland, Warnock and Dunne all still based in the NW there is good potential for swap deals. I'm more tempted by the idea now.

He's only 2 years left now though, he might see an offer of, say, 30k a week for 4 years with a 'loyalty bonus' off us as worth it. Especially if it allowed him to stay in the North West.

The press seem to think corluka and hutton could both be available - either would do me, I'm sure corluka would see us a better bet than fulham,who are reportedly after him. Seems walker will be the chosen right back at spurs next season.

As for Cahill- id be delighted if we signed him, young still and comfortable on the ball, would be costly but him and Clark could form a solid defence for years to come.
