You can't sign pre-contract agreements with players who play for teams in the same country.

That's what I thought Paul but the caller on the radio was adamant that Westwood has agreed to join villa- we will have to wait and see.,just googled it and there seem to be a few websites with the same rumour.

Well if his contract expires in the summer I'd imagine he could agree to something but not sign a contract. It'd be pretty hard, with the number of agents about for deals not to be discussed until after a contract expires.

The article re AY going to ManU also said that he is seen as the replacement for Giggs - being a speedy wide player.  If that's the case, we should put him back in his best position and stop this fannying around with him playing in the middle of the park.

I see your point Fred and was a bit surprised when GED said about his free role a couple of weeks ago 'ash likes playing there' - id imagine gabby likes playing as a striker but a players preference shouldn't come into it- it's the team that counts, it seems what ash wants ash gets these days.

We need To sign two goalies to battle it out for the number one position- freidal and guzan are not good enough.,Westwood and given or Robinson would be ideal in my opinion.

Goalies are never rotated, rested unless its a early cup round and clubs have a 1st choice and then a understudy and I can see Westwood as the understudy

I'm not talking about rotation , I'm talking about 2 quality keepers, any manager who guarantees any player a position is a fool, houllier paid big money at Liverpool on the same day and bought dudek and Kirkland at £5m each - a wise move and then let them
Battle it out for top spot- no keeper should be number one guaranteed- it should be on merit- as it happens I think westwood is good enough to be the keeper at villa if he gets his chance - but I'm sure many will disagree.

I am one of them he has no experience of playing top flight football.........If we paid £24m for Bent we need to spend at least £8/£10m on a top quality keeper some one of the same calibre as Akineev, Steklenburg, Mandana. Lloris, De Gea

Every player has no experience at top level at some stage, he will be a vast improvement on friedal and guzan, people slagged off walker when he signed but I posted I'd seen him at qpr and he was decent- joe hart wasn't experienced at 1st but look at him now.

As I said I'd like given or Robinson as well but I'd have no qualms if Westwood was in our team. He's been a good keeper and an international too, not some 18 yr old unknown.

I agree he will be an improvement on Guzan no problem and put him with Robinson yes it looks good to me as for Walker in my opinion he has a lot to learn defensively and positionally and is not as good as most people on here think he is, and as for swopping Walker for Ashley ...........not in a million, zillion years

Chris Smalling from Fulham to Man U?  Didn't he sign for Fergie and then play out the reat of the season with Fulham?  I'm sure he did.
