I'm expecting 2 or 3 clubs to be in for Ash which could spark a bidding war, so we may get up near the 20m mark

Given stuff was on here and in a couple of papers on deadline day, I am sure someone said he was definitely at BH on deadline day too.

Westwood is on a gossip column someone and in one of the red tops.

Name ends in "inho" though so he must be great.

...erm Marcelinho at Newcastle a few years ago?

Oh god!  ::)

Out of interest, how many 'lazy journalism's' have we had so far on this thread, both total number, and 'lazy journalism's'/page?

Most decent teams have a keeper who commands and dominates the 6 yard box and the defenders who in general defend the rest of the penalty area, a top keeper will say to his defence , anything in the 6 yard box is my domain, but friedal doesn't come off his line even for crosses 4 yards out making the defences job extremely difficult- it's basically a case of it their player heads it 1st it's probably a goal.

Rather than standing on his line shouting away he should be coming out to punch clear or catch the ball, any cross outswinging or outside 6 yards fine , stay on the line but not the ball is so close.

i think we need 2 keepers in the summer personally.

Let's hope that gervinho is in that 1% bracket in this case.

Is he that good then?

Absolutely no idea, never heard of him before.

Exactly what I was thinking.

He's very good.

If someone offered us £20million for Young I'd bite their hands off.

Still not convinced by Given... We will be trading one aging goalkeeper for another who was slightly less good at his peak. His injuries are getting more and more frequent despite a paucity of playing time too. So I say no.

I vote for Foster (if Blues have financial trouble as seems likely) or Robinson ahead of him by a long way.

Robinson would be worth going for imo, I think that he would do well at VP. Westwood would be a good back up Keeper but he would expect to be no;1 wherever he goes.Other than that Scott Loach at Watford is a very good Keeper.
Outside of those plus Given I would think that we would need to look abroad.

Plus I think he would move to us - always seems to have some rapport with our fans

Although last time we tried to buy him he didn't want to know.

I don't think that it was entirely his doing when he left Leeds and his move to us broke down, there was some talk of the fee being the issue, he went onto Spurs of course but a move from Blackburn to us would surely appeal to him and he is a good reliable keeper aged 30.

Isn't Ash out of contract in the summer?  Meaning that he will go on a free?

Next summer. So he may well stay with us for another 16 months and then leave on a free.
