Houllier has a vast knowledge of worldwide football and great contacts , I'm sure he will have a couple of aces up his sleeve in the summer .

What ash must realise is the grass is not always greener and sometimes it's better being a big fish in a small pool and here he very much has the manager who believes in him- elsewhere he may find it harder to settle and play intermittently and on the wing.

I think Young could be persuaded to stay if the Manager and Chairman show the required ambition in the summer - and I think they will.

I've said for a while now keep nige and sell petrov- use petrovs wages to cover a new deal for nige and maybe pocket £3m for petrov- I don't think he will keep both and I'd much rather reo- coker stayed than stan.

And if Sturridge is available in the Summer we can't let him go to Bolton. Chelsea will probably keep him though.

Yes, if Chelsea are thinking of selling we should push our way to the front of the queue.
I've been wanting us to get him for years and we were stupid to let him go in the first place.

Bent, Gabby, Sturridge, Delfouneso, Weimann.
Sorted.

Can't see us carrying 5 strikers if we're going to play one up front, which I think is going to be the case, so I can't see another one coming in during the summer window.

I think striker would be the least of the priorities in the summer, defence will be the main priority with keepers , full backs and maybe a centre half.

Maybe, although we could play with three strikers sometimes. Especially as the likes of Sturridge, Delfouneso and Weimann are good at linking play.

If only Premier League footballers had common sense instead of inflated egos James Milner would have accepted he's not and never going to be a world class player, and consequently would get very little game time at an ambitious, cash-rich club like Manchester City. I suspect Young will fall into the same trap and end up a bit part player at Manchester United, a la Anderson.

Loving the thought of a marauding three up front. However, I think with the versatility of players like Albers and (if he stays) Ash, we won't need to bring in another forward to make that plan a reality.

Leeds want to take Aston Villa's Scottish midfielder Barry Bannan, 21, on loan to boost their bid for a Premier League return.
Full story: Daily Mirror

Hope we say no, if true.
We'll need him here for the run in.

I'd rather he was playing for Leeds than the reserves. But I'd rather he was on our bench than playing for Leeds.

Well this is only based on Heskey leaving which might not happen, but my whole point I suppose is that when certain players become available you have to go for them regardless of what you already have and I think Sturridge is that type of player.

I agree that there are other priorities and I dont really want Delfouneso and Weimann's routes to the first team blocked any more than they are as I believe in them, but I'm a fan and reserve the right to be greedy. :)

Robert pires is saying how much he loves villa and he hopes he can win a new contract for next year. Bannan may well be the ideal player to give leeds that final lift over the play off chase.  Would be ok as long as we have an immediate release clause should we need him due to injuries, although he's unlucky not to at least be on the bench.

Loan him to Leeds and maybe help them get to Premiership?

No way we're gonna help that club.
